Some Of The Bigger Changes Rise Of Iron Will Bring To Destiny
The latest issue of Game Informer is out, and its big cover story was an expose on Destiny: Rise of Iron. Within its pages, Bungie revealed several new additions to the game that the expansion will be bringing.
One of the bigger additions comes in the form of artifacts, first introduced in The Taken King. There are going to be eight new ones, and you’re going to want them all because they each grant a new ability. The eight artifacts are inspired by eight Iron Lords, and grant abilities vaguely related in theme to those Lords. Bungie wasn’t specific beyond that, but they mentioned one artifact temporarily makes enemies fight on your side (but you’ve gotta hit them with a melee attack first). Another artifact gets rid of the cooldown timer.
Where do you get these new goodies? They must be earned. Each week a new task will be available courtesy of Tyra Karn, a new character. Complete the task for Karn and you’ll earn the artifact offered.
Bungie also revealed the light cap would be increased, and twice! Once upon the release of Rise of Iron (from 335 to 385), and then again after the Hard version of Iron’s big raid comes out (to 400). The level cap is remaining where it is.
Finally Bungie revealed it’s bringing back both the seasonal Festival of the Lost this October and the Sparrow Racing League this December, but the latter will be somewhat different based on player response to the last time it was there. Team director Jerry Hook told GI, “When we talk about SRL coming back, it’ll probably be wrapped in a different style, not just focused around SRL. Because some of the stuff that we learned from our players around the Sparrow Racing League is that some people didn’t like racing. So, can you do something with the event that helps support those players a little bit differently? Absolutely.”
So what can you do in a Racing League besides race? We’ll find out September 20, when Rise of Iron comes out for current-gen consoles and PC.
