Black Ops 3 Will Most Likely Be Set In The Future
Yesterday’s teaser trailer didn’t give us much to go in in regards to what exactly is in Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, but someone snooping around the official website managed to dig up a little more. While poring through the webpage’s source code, the anonymous snoop discovered this paragraph buried in it:
Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is the first title for next-gen hardware in the critically acclaimed Black Ops series. Developed by Treyarch, the award-winning creator of the two most-played games in Call of Duty history. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 deploys players into a dark, twisted future where a new breed of Black Ops soldier emerges and the lines are blurred between our own humanity and the technology we created to stay ahead, in a world where cutting-edge military robotics define warfare. With three unique game modes: Campaign, Multiplayer and Zombies, providing fans with the deepest and most ambitious Call of Duty ever.
For one, this means developer Treyarch is definitely not finished putting zombies in things. For another, it confirms that after Black Ops 1 took place in flashbacks and Black Ops 2 was a mixture of past and future, Black Ops 3 will have an entirely futuristic setting. Treyarch has been making posts on its Facebook page lately about possible future technologies like embeddable implants; it’s safe to expect such speculative tech to play a role in the gameplay.
A piece of art was also pulled from the server (see splash image), giving you a shadowy glimpse at the Armor of Tomorrow players may possibly sport. We will definitely know more April 26, when the official unveiling takes place.
