Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Leak Bums Out Developer
Not too long now until Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’s Nov. 3 Day Zero release, but apparently someone couldn’t wait. Footage from a stolen version turned up on a Twitch stream this weekend, and Sledgehammer Games co-founder Glen Schofield was not happy.
Schofield voiced his displeasure on Twitter.
“We took 3 years 2 make a game. Kept it quiet 4 the fans & it has to be stolen & leaked a week b4. That sucks. A real bummer. Thanks a lot,” Schofield tweeted.
The Twitch stream in question was quickly shut down, but not before Twitch user Anfuny 29 spoiled an unrevealed feature, a mysterious “DNA Bomb” scorestreak for getting 30 kills in one life.
When a Twitter user made the argument that the bright side was that it meant there’s a lot of hype for the game, Schofield said he realized that but “stealing and releasing is not the answer.” In response to another user he said he was “disappointed” and when one user pointed out that everything gets leaked, Schofield struck a resigned note and said he was just venting.
“I knew they would, just expressing my thoughts. That’s why we have Twitter,” Schofield said.
