Digital Version of Black Ops 3 Mysteriously Pulled from XBox One And Amazon
Looks like we have a mystery on our hands, gang. The digital version of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 has disappeared from both the XBox Games Store and Amazon.com. If you want to pre-purchase the game digitally, your only remaining options for the time being are Playstation 4 or Steam. But why?
No one’s saying why. Polygon started probing around for answers and got a few vague statements from Microsoft. “We do not comment on the specific terms of our arrangements with any of our publishing partners, however we are actively engaged with Activision to return Call of Duty: Black Ops III to the Xbox Store. In the meantime, fans can pre-order Call of Duty: Black Ops III for Xbox One or Xbox 360 from any of a host of retail partners here.”
When Polygon sent the same questions to Activision, they got a statement equally as vague, yet confirming they had nothing to do with it. “Activision did not remove the digital version of Call of Duty: Black Ops III from the Xbox Games Store. Black Ops III is ready for launch on November 6th and is the most anticipated game of the year. Black Ops III is available for pre-order or pre-purchase through our other retail partners worldwide.”
Pulled games seem to be a thing of late. Recently a number of games have disappeared from Apple’s app store due to incompatibility issues with the latest version of iOS. That, however, can’t be the reason behind the Black Ops 3 disappearance, as Microsoft’s updates to its XBox firmware have never caused older games to quit working. Also, this paerticular game isn’t even out yet.
When we have answers, we’ll let you know.
