Female Characters, Dedicated Servers, And More Black Ops 3 Revelations
Treyarch, the developers of the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, have revealed several new details regarding the game they’re working on finishing.
One is for the first time in Call of Duty history, your character will be customizable up to the point where you’ll be able to choose your gender. Campaign director Jason Blundell admitted the option WAS inspired by Mass Effect, and that like in that game, the story will remain the same no matter which sex is involved. Back in dinosaur times, Call of Duty: Ghosts allowed female characters in multiplayer, but nowhere else.
The PC version of the game will get dedicated servers, which is in line with previous COD games on the PC all the way back to 2010. Ghosts had dedicated servers on consoles as well, but there was no announcement of that here.
Treyarch also revealed that the game would come with an adjustable field-of-view slider, like previous COD titles with “Black Ops” in the name have. I wish more game developers would leave this option. There are people who get motion sick from 3D games more easily than others, and the main culprit is a low FOV. It’s a simple solution, but one not enough developers care about.
