Those who watch Ninja play Fortnite on his stream have noticed he’s been playing lately with a custom skin that looks like him. As of tomorrow, the Ninja skin will become an official Fortnite product, as part of their new Icon Series of skins. It comes with the following extras: Ninja’s Edge Back Bling, Ninja Style Emote, and a Dual Katanas Pickaxe.
Given that Ninja has been synonymous with Fortnite since both things became popular, this skin feels so obvious that you probably assumed it was already in there. The decision took until 2020, however, and if we had to hazard a guess, it’s because Twitch celebrities (or former Twitch celebrities who followed the money to Mixer) tend to get themselves into media scandals easily, and Epic wouldn’t want the association if it happened to Ninja. Plus, unlike Hollywood celebrities, streamers don’t have public image committees carefully approving everything they say.
At any rate, Epic is only offering the Ninja skin for three days, which conveniently doesn’t give Ninja himself much time to get in trouble. You’ve got until January 19 at 8 PM Eastern / 5 PM Pacific to pick it up. As for who else Epic has in mind for their Icon Series, we’ll have to wait and see.
