I took her speech to rick gave insight into her "world" and wanting to be completely their own world removed from anyone else... including their fractured speech

After this conversation I don't see how Rick could let Negan live.

Maybe that future dream of good Negan was just a "what could have been" Not a "what will be next season". After these speeches to each other, I really don't see Negan living through this either.

 

I see different.. I think Rick is fighting with emotions and wants to convince himself he's going to kill Negan

 

Wasn't long enough. Ugh! I'm on the verge of believing Jadis will become Alpha, too. Please save me!

Negan is a great mind-f*cker so I think rick will keep him alive because he’s already feeling like a failure to Carl, even more so now after Negan’s little conversation. The fact that Carl wants peace will make rick keep him alive...

 

I think Rick will be in a position to kill Negan - maybe ready to pull the trigger or swing his axe - but then he'll remember that "my mercy prevails over my wrath" line and he won't kill him.

 

agree.....his emotions from losng carl are still so raw. he has not had the time to even begin grieving much less giving thought and reflection to his conversation with carl and his letter from carl.

I am glad we got to see a reaction t carls death from negan...even though it was rather fleeting

 

I do have to say that I rather dug Negan's little sidetrack asking what happened to Carl. "Was it us? Was it the grenades? Or... the fires?"

Like, it kinda felt genuine to me that he was hoping it wasn't anything his people did because he liked Carl a hell of a lot. That if it had been on them, it would have affected him pretty deeply. At least for a while.

I wanted it to be a 1.5 hour episode at least, once we got into the meat of it.

And... yeah, I'm kinda getting that vibe, too, now.

 

I never would have believed it until all her entourage was gone and she was rejected by Rick. And she was. Makes one wonder now. I never would have thought it otherwise.

Rick! It sounds like he even CARED about the junkiekids!

 

I had two thoughts coming out of this episode.

1) The Simon v Jadis scene was one of the best scenes in 3 seasons.

2) I'm wondering if Rick actually does kill Negan. We've been under the impression that Rick spares Negan to honor Carl. I'm starting to wonder if that isn't the red herring, that when the time comes Rick does kill Negan. We would be shocked and it would go against Carl's wishes and that is something that would sort of haunt Rick going forward.
