Deadline.com reports that Rick's advertised final episode "What Comes After" earned a 2.1 rating and brought in 5.4 million viewers.

Will be interesting to see what it looks like next week. I think we should expect ratings in the 3 to 4m range for the second half of the season.

 

By mid-season finalé, there's gonna be a lot of people playing catch-up 'cause the word's spreading how the ship's been righted.

I really don't give a damn how BIG the numbers are each week (bigger is, of course, nicer, but ultimately inconsequential), as long as they tick up. They must continue to rise, this is paramount.

Slow and steady wins this race.

 

The show destroyed any good word of mouth that may have been going on when they did another fake out death.

 

Completely disagree. Some were disgruntled, no doubt, the majority were not.

 

It was a binary choice; the character lives or the character dies. As with all binary choices, the outcome isn't going to please everyone.

I also disagree that his death was a fake-out. WE know his (immediate) fate, but it was important that the cast believe he's dead so they can move on with the story and not have the rest of the season spent looking for him (which, of course, they would) a la Sophia.

 

While not a "fake out" for us, it is for the characters and that's going to have an effect on how people see the story going forward.

I am curious to see how people will react next week. The show has been generating a lot of positive buzz, but I'm not sure that's enough to bring people back live. The guys at work who got me into the show and have been die hard fans both plan on binging the rest of the season. They don't plan on watching live from now on. They are both upset that Rick is gone.

So next week will be an interesting one.
