Do you think Siddiq may have escaped death because he was forced to disclose information about Alexandria and Oceanside?

No. I think it was just to send the message back.

I think they envision sending the herd at a single location, and right now, they already have two in mind.

Nah. I think it was as simple as Siddiq told it. Alpha wanted a witness to tell everyone what she did. Just happened to choose Siddiq with no rhyme or reason.

The actor who plays Siddiq seemed shocked by that question on TD about him being alive and possibly a traitor.
I wondered that myself after reading the summary for the finale.
I hope not. I think it was just Alpha's way of reinforcing the terror.
I also think it's going to backfire on her.

Alpha choosing Siddiq to spare and send back still doesn't make any sense to me though. He's not on alpha-male status (pun intended) like Daryl, Ezekiel, Jerry, or some of the other good fighters between the communities, but he is still a middle-aged and healthy adult male who could pose a threat if the groups were to conflict down the line.

If it was me, I would have either spared Tammy, an elderly woman who wouldn't pose much of a threat anyways, or one of the teens to go back and tell the story. Before Ozzy, Alek, and DJ showed up to bust them out, you would have to assume that Siddiq would have been the most dangerous person to get into a fight with out of the rest of the captives. Maybe Tara would have put up a better fight, but still.

Interesting choice by Alpha. One that is almost guaranteed to backfire too.

Her and Beta (and all whisperers in general given their crazy philosophy) believe that all of them are weak, regardless of potential variation in their survival capability.

To Alpha, they are all softies playing pretend, so for her picking at random does just fine.

I don't see Jerry as an Alpha male. He's a nice guy, but not a Rick type.

He literally split a man in two with a battle axe.

While I disagree being nice disqualifies him as being a leader (or "alpha male": Ezekiel is an incredibly kind and considerate leader for example), I would agree his unwavering allegiance to Ezekiel makes him look more like a follower than a strong leader.

Other than that, Jerry can be just as brutal as Rick.

Especially now that he has a wife and 3 little babes to protect. I predict Jerry will go all out berserker on anyone threatening his family.

I think there is a good possibility that Siddiq was not picked to be spared. But it just happened that way.
I could imagine the scenario that they were all tied up in the barn and then the Highwaymen came in and the last fight began. Siddiq just happened to be the last one while everyone else was killed (as he saw everything happened inside the barn) and Alpha decided to spare him as her messenger.

I think this is probably the case.. to Alpha none of them are special and if it was hand-to-hand combat then I doubt it was planned to save Siddiq and only Siddiq.. after the scuffle he was probably still alive like you said and so he was messenger

I was really thinking Siddiq maybe hiding something. After reading the posts here I guess he is just a random, lucky survivor. If he'd be a traitor then Carl's death would be meaningless.

Pfft. Siddiq survived so he could tell the story. To us, of the courage of the spiked. It's nice that the communities get to hear it too, but to see anything more in it is surely just paranoia.

As far as Jerry goes, anyone has to be brutal at some times in the ZA in order to survive. I do not see him as a leader though.
Although he seems to be a baby making machine!!!!! Repopulating the U.S. by himself (with a willing spouse).

Hi! How did you find us? Was it before the forum changed its name? (Used to be called The Walking Dead Forums.) We thought we might never see another new person--kind of like how running into a new person gets rarer and rarer in the zombie apocalypse. :p
