That's awful. This pandemic has really revealed such an ugliness where self centeredness and a lack of concern for others is prevalent in too many. Just wear a damn mask and don't put others at risk. And yet too many can't do these simple things.

    Good luck with your test.

"As for wearing maks and acting sane, that's something I'll never do."

    Great song parody.

Oh well. Much better to be going to work healthy than to be stuck at home with COVID. Good to hear you're ok.

The CDC has come out and said this:

"“It is unethical and illegal to test someone who does not want to be tested, including students whose parents or guardians do not want them to be tested,” the CDC said."

and opposes schools making COVID testing mandatory. It looks like the CDC has really lost its way. Their job is to try and prevent and control disease, not to be some sort of social progress agency. This statement, like their earlier one saying the 'social justice' aspect of the George Floyd protests was more important than the potential spread of covid from the protests leads me to believe that the priorities of the CDC have shifted to where disease prevention is no longer their primary objective. That's a very sad thing. Where do you turn to to stop the spread of covid if not the CDC?

And that's relevant to a real problem at the CDC... how?

Pfizer might be applying to produce their vaccine under emergency use criteria within the next month or two.

    "
Pfizer Inc. said it could be ready to apply for emergency-use authorization of its COVID-19 vaccine by late November, assuming it receives positive efficacy and safety data from late-stage human trials, the first time it or any other leading Western vaccine developer provided such a specific timeline.

The drug giant, which is developing its vaccine candidate with German partner BioNTech SE, said it continues to expect to have data on the vaccine's effectiveness -- whether it protects at least a majority of vaccinated people from the disease -- later this month. It then expects to have data on the drug's safety by the third week of November.

Assuming positive results with both sets of data, Pfizer said it then plans to file for emergency-use authorization for the vaccine in the U.S. from the Food and Drug Administration soon after receiving the safety data. It didn't disclose timing for similar applications anywhere else in the world."

    That explains Fpizer's public statement:

"This has been an exciting time for all the members on our research team. Although our hopes were initially deflated by poor results, and even though the work kept getting harder and harder as we progressed, we think we've finally succeeded in penetrating the virus' secrets and producing a rock-solid vaccine, and soon plan on disseminating our product to as many people as possible around the world."

    creepy b@stards!

... sigh. on second thought, I'd better add a disclaimer that that the above is NOT a real statement from Pfizer, Inc.

Who needs the CDC? Supreme Leader knows all and will reveal all in due time. Even his tax returns, which have been under audit for the past five years. Trust in Supreme Leader. And don’t ask too many questions.

There's a group too that carry their masks. I've seen people with them on their arms, or in their hands.Maybe it's in case the coronavirus comes racing out from around the corner to mug them. Then they've got it covered.

One of the more striking ones to me is Japan. They have 126 million people and 1,674 deaths. America has 331 million people and 225,000+ deaths.

Different type of society and culture. Also if you look at the places where it has been the most deaths it is Europe and the areas with European descendants. I think it has to do with genetics.

Wasn't the European mutation a more severe/deadly form of the virus as well? The west coast got what is believed to be the original strain from China, and it wasn't as deadly compared to the east coast and NY which had the mutated "euro-strain". Of course, that boob for a governor Cuomo didn't help matters any. He did a horrible job and somehow he came out smelling like a rose. Now he's written a book about how his massive failures, but he's disguised it as a success. smh

Thank you, yes, it was a more deadly strain. While mistakes were certainly made, Cuomo kept us informed which made people feel more secure. It might have taken some time for the down staters to get their act together but they managed to finally quell the worse of the virus and help us turn the corner. With NYC being the most populous city in the country, he certainly had his hands full. If other governors in the states that later became hot spots had studied what he did, both right and wrong, they might have been able to keep cases down in their own states, IMO. Oh, and you’re right...people do like him. Republicans might be grumbling but by God they’re wearing their masks if they want to go anywhere and do anything.
