The other thing I'm sure people are pressuring Biden to do is to remove the SALT caps that Trump put on and go back to high tax states being subsidized by low tax ones. Hopefully, that won't happen as all it does is discourage high tax states from being fiscally accountable.

Hon, you know darn well that nothing in politics is permanent. As ol' Sleepy Joe likes to say "Come on, man!". Okay.... well there's this one phone tax from WW1 that we're still paying, but that's it. lol

Ok, let's end this discussion so things don't escalate. Maybe it was a misunderstanding on some level. Maybe something was misinterpreted. I don't know, but let's drop the subject and move on. Thanks.

This is disgusting and completely ignorant of the essence of what a democracy is supposed to be. Even if their assessment of what a "Trump supporter" is about, is 100% spot on (which I personally don't believe it is) their solution is absolutely frightening.

Also, I'd like to point out Mr. Campbell's use of the word "Death cult". Reasonable and objective people don't use careless and hyperbolic terms like that to describe fellow their Americans just because they don't like their politics. Someone with his pov shouldn't be using words like that under any circumstances. The lack of self awareness here is unimaginable.

If you think Trump supporters are crazy. Then fine. But don't try to fight crazy with MORE crazy and then act like you're on the side of democracy.

    Blaming everyone but himself.

I’ve listened and read, what a lot of now ex Trump supporters have said.
Most said it was his handling of the virus, that got them to vote for Biden. To some, it was the “losers & suckers” comment that was reported. (Yes, I know this can not be proven that he said it). A lot of the retired didn’t like him wanting to remove the poll tax, as that supplies social security.
But in the end, a lot of republicans voted for the other guy.

This. I know he has a hard time believing this, but a lot of Republicans votes red down ballot but voted for Biden at the top. That’s not an indicator of voter fraud; it’s an indicator that a lot of Republicans were no longer impressed by the current POTUS. Trump should just stop talking now before he puts his foot even further in his mouth.

Too late. All he and his kids are doing now is destroying any chance they had at being elected to office again, as well as destroying their own businesses.

They are lunatics, one and all.

Do you truly believe that there is a possibility that they could successfully run and win in 2024? Well.... obviously you don't believe that now, but let's say Trump had conceded last Saturday and decided to regroup without any of this current weirdness. Do you it would be possible?

70% of Republican voters BELIEVE that the only reason Biden won the election is because of fraud. Think about that: 70%.

Unfortunately for Republicans, almost no independent voters believe that, so Trump has alienated too many people to win. Which is why Republicans did fairly well in the election, but Trump got hammered.

And Trump's business is global, so he has alienated most of the world. Let's face it, most of the people staying at his properties right now are there because they want something and he's the president.

So yeah, I think it was possible, at least maybe for Ivanka, that his kids could have successfully entered politics - especially if Biden is less than successful. I think too many people, including modern Republicans (who apparently believe almost anything) realize his sons are complete morons, but who knows.

Well... I certainly don't agree with all of your points, but I can see where you're coming from. I am a modern Republican and I don't believe everything Trump says. I also would prefer that he not run again in 2024, so maybe this nonsense that he's engaging in right now will help prevent that. I liked a lot of aspects of his policies. If someone else, someone who's more capable of governing and less mouthy and bombastic carried on with some of those policies, they might wind up being a fairly well respected President.

Trump is like a bad dream. Don’t forget that a lot of Republican voters didn’t vote form him either. Down ballot, there were many votes for Republican senators for example, and none of the incumbent Republicans lost their seat. At the top of the ballot, however, many had also chosen Biden for president. In fact, the Trump campaign considers this evidence of voter fraud. Why would someone vote in two different directions on the same ballot? In reality, of course, it indicates that a significant number of Republican voters were not happy with their leadership. In fact, Trump was the only incumbent Republican to lose his seat. That’s got to tell you something.

And no, the rest of the Trump family are even denser than he is, including Ivanka. If the Republicans know what’s good for them, they will never nominate another Trump again.

    I don't consider you a modern Republican.

By modern Republican, I mean the ones who believe everything Trump says, even if he said something totally different before or if it is an obvious lie. The ones who believe every crazy conspiracy theory ever. The ones who won't wear a mask because it's all a conspiracy to try to control you. Those are the Trump modern Republicans.

I call those people Trumplicans. It helps differentiate the real republicans from the Trump cult members.

Trump skipped out of the pandemic topic at the virtual G20 summit.
He had a golf appointment at his Virginia property.

Priorities. Clearly this is why he deserves to be president for another four years.

I think it is very possible and democrats should take heed of this. Trump is not going away nor his supporters. They are already convinced that this election has been stolen and he will keep reminding them of this, and in 4 years time they will come out and vote in a vengeance.

You make some valid points. The sentiments he capitalized on have always been there but the more coalesced “movement” he created is certainly not going away any time soon.

Can he or his family lead again in four years? That depends on what can happen in four years. He could be enmeshed in legal problems, especially with NYS over tax fraud allegations. His health could be undermined. He’s older, over weight and has suffered a bout of Covid. Once he becomes a private citizen he won’t have quite the attention paid to keeping him healthy as was necessary while he was president. Will his hotels and golf courses continue to provide the income he needs? His influence may fade...or not.

I don’t think that any of his children are up to the task of carrying on the shenanigans their father did. The boys have tried to interject themselves but if their dad isn’t front and center behind them I don’t know if they could gain any traction on their own. They don’t really have his “charisma” if you will.

Our current extreme polarization is a cancer that is going to try and spread if it can, but we have to be ready to fight it. What unites us should be more important than what divides us but we’ll see what happens. When you align yourself on one side or the other, it really is hard to understand why the other side thinks and feels the way they do. The natural reaction is sort of a “what is wrong with those people” attitude so trying to reach out can be important. I hope President Elect Biden will set a good example.

I'm more concerned about his supporters, than him. It's disturbing that he got 10 million more votes in 2020, after this dystopian mess, than he did in 2016.

I also don't believe that anyone else but Biden would've won this year. The worst thing Democrats did was to allow Sanders to run in 2016 as an independent. He's branded the party with socialism and hurt the down ballot this year. Everyone knew Biden so he wasn't impacted with it. Even if you had a good new face in 2020 they would've painted him/her with that brush. Perhaps only Klobuchar could've gotten around it.

It would appear you think you have a pair. I don’t know if @tink will notice but I did. She may not find it as funny as you apparently did. Just sayin’.
