Yeah, I agree that he's the safest character on the show. He's going to beat this world, to quote Lori.
But they are going exactly where you and me don't want them to go next episode. Watch the New Zealand promo. Basically each frame from the scene from issue 57 is there. But, just like the comic, Rick (and probably daryl) will save the day.
Hopefully they give him a badass scene when they fight whoever is in terminus, as consolation for giving his Ben and billy moment to carol. That pissed me off. Or maybe they'll have him have some version of the talk by the el Camino in the morning-- maybe tell his side of the Jody story. Set things straight with all the useless pricks who think he killed jody in cold blood.
