I think it's definitely a lot safer since it's nearly impossible to have 1 person raid your base by themselves. However, if a clan/group finds your base than they're probably going to get in if no one's guarding it. But, if you're in a group I definitely think it's worth it, because I was able to have a base near Pleasant Valley before the spear patch.
