I think he means that Ron's intentions of wanting to learn a gun, during the 5 mins he talked to rick, was indeed to protect people, not to try to murder someone. But that maybe that wont be his intentions 2 hours later, since he's so unstable and has a temper.

I still don't see how that conflicts with Morgatha's point that Ron is so unstable that he keeps swaying and not knowing what his own intentions are.

Ron is a little shit, he's up to something alright.

 

He doesn't want Carl to find Enid. I don't think he cares as much about Carl dying, especially since he stole his girl. In the end he did exactly what you suggested, I thought. He let Carl go and then set Rick to looking for Carl, although he said Carl was at the house last he saw him.

 

Why wouldn't Rick believe him? He has no idea about the love triangle going on with Carl.

 

Yea, I don't think he was lying about wanting to learn how to shoot, but it does seem like he definitely has ulterior motives. There's no ****ing way he's suddenly wanting to get all palsy with Rick given his attitude this season. Also, what is it with all this hate for the kid? I have so much sympathy for his circumstances, and frankly he's right about Rick being dangerous. Not that I'd approve of some sort of revenge killing.

 

I agree. Ron's a shit, but put in his shoes, you can't help feeling bad for him. Despite his dad being an abuser, it was STILL his father. Rick comes in and shoots his Dad in the face (albeit totally deserved) and then dumps his body, and while Carl's getting friendly with his girl, Rick is getting cozy with his Mom. Not to mention the fact that he feels like his mother should be taking his side (being angry with Rick like he is) and comforting him, but she is standing by Rick (to an extent). The kid went from a "seemingly" normal life to almost complete isolation in a matter of minutes. I might be a bit of a dick too ....
