Yea, one WTF moment as in "WTF, is this really happening?" and one "WTF!!!!!! This BETTER not be it!"

Little long in moments, high on suspense, high on "um....what?". Good episode.

 

I'm not sure what to do with this. An excellent episode, yet

 

Instead of all the spoiler boxes, can we just say

Is it too early to start a “Just how amazing was Daryl in this episode?” thread? Because I’m kinda bursting here.

 

Solid episode, I'm glad they added the Negan/Alpha stuff in stead of making it a complete Daryl et. al bottle episode. I liked that they made Kelly land ass over teacup when she was jumping from rock to rock, which is more realistically how most of us would do it. Weak part of the episode for me was Carol's continued recklessness even towards the end of the episode. I think it would have played better without that.

Overall, 8.55.

 

Hated it. Terrible sets, ridiculous decisions by the characters, and that Negan-Alpha stuff was trash.

The jumping from one stone to the other was the worse. How convenient. At least it reminded me of Pitfall - even though the sets in the game were more credible (these are well designed trees).

 

I gave it a 5 and I felt I was being way too generous. That Negan/Alpha crap (no pun intended) was enough to puke a buzzard off a gut wagon. . . Stuff nightmares are made of.

 

In the Gimple days the show didn't do that well with suspenseful episodes but I thought Kang did a nice job with the group trapped in the cave. But I dislike Carol now even more than I did coming into this one. Not only didn't she learn her lesson after leading everyone into danger, but she made a promise to Daryl while they were trapped in the cave and he asked her if she was on his team. Then she just disappears?!?!?!

I have no sympathy for her either. Everyone has lost people, but you don't put others at risk time and time again. If she wanted to go on some suicide mission she should've just gone off alone, like Merle did in Season 3.

For comic readers I was thinking about Negan and Alpha and was wondering if maybe

 

I gave it a 9. Lots to love, very intense, had some good comedy moments (why did Negan and Alpha both leave their SOCKS on?? YIKES).

Carol has REALLY gotten on my last ****ing nerve. Daryl should have punched her right in her big stupid ****ing face.

3, this episode was boring for the most part and too damn dark to see.

 

It seems like the lighting issue is TV/media dependent. When I was watching previews for this episode on my phone and laptop, I couldn't see it well. I could barely make out what was going on at times. But these darker episodes, when they finally air live on my television, I can always see everything fine. During the live episode the darkness never even really crossed my mind until I saw people mentioning it online later. It might have to do with contrast settings on the TV.

Having said that, yes, I still think that if a certain significant percentage of viewers are complaining about the lighting of an episode, then it was probably not properly thought out.
