At moments that was in fact what I looked like LOL

And at other times I was more gobsmacked than verklempt

And once or twice I was a wee bit confused but not enough to take me out of the story

    Same here. Power walking.

I have a few issues with the episode, that annoy me. Those aside, I think it is a good episode, but not as good as last week’s or Squeeze. Too much going on, it’s hard work having to keep readjusting to the mood of the scenes coming at you relentlessly with intense stuff. I felt utterly exhausted after watching it. But there were also some golden moments for sure.

I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. Yes, there were some sad moments but not as bad as I expected and what a payoff ending!! Even with all the speculation I didn’t believe until I saw it....whoa..I’m actually smiling!

    Well.

    Damn.

If that didn't have you on the edge of your seat you need a new chair.

    Marathon.

Very solid episode. They didn't beat around the bush here and wrapped up the battle and aftermath in pretty efficient fashion. They moved the war along in new directions with Alpha's timely death. They developed Judith. They gave us partial resolution to the Magonnie mystery. They seem to be sending Eugene on his destiny soon. Good set up for the final 4 episodes of the season.

I'm stubbornly sticking with the decimal system and giving this episode a 9.1.

A Marathon (10) for me. For an hour I was screaming: "Kill Alpha--I can't take it any more." And then it happened. The kiss was sickening though.
I didn't know my father well, and he was a member of the Pleasant Avenue Boys many years ago in Italian Harlem, but he would have said it is the perfect time to kill Negan. And that was my first thought. Beta has to go so bad I can taste it.

    7/10

Dumb ellispes to get out of the situation they were in at the end of last episode (how did they get back in Hilltop? How did they manage to get away?), unecessary dumb stuff between Eugene and his radio, and Magma and the other chick, but, on the other hand, very satisfying answers to the Negan-Alpha-Carol storyline and a very nice scene between Earl and Judith.

8.5 to 9 on the episode, which I translated to Marathon.

The aftermath of the battle was disappointing for me. The whisperers had them beat but they didn’t finish the job. It seemed too easy for the hilltop people to deal with the remaining walkers and make their escape. That was the only disappointment in an otherwise thrilling episode.

Good scene between Judith and Earl. It was a tragic loss of a lesser, but likeable, cast member. I was livid and screaming at the TV that Alpha had to die NOW!

Negan - you da man. it was predictable that he would turn on the whisperers but that slash took me by surprise.

Now somebody needs to kill that Beaty and the Beast Beta dude. How many lives does that cat have?

    The episode left me smiling.

Either they aren't being given the budget any longer to do massive battles on this show or Kang just isn't very good with battle scenes. This should have been a massive battle (heck in the comic they dedicated an entire issue to it) yet in the show it lasted for what maybe five minutes and the rest of the time was spent just walking around in the woods. They didn't even bother to show how it ended. They were all still inside of the walls and then a giant explosion happens and then it just goes to commercial. When it came back from commercial the battle was over. They used to dedicate entire episodes to battles with fights that were smaller scale with fewer people involved. What gives TWD? This truly is just a soap opera now.

Oh and more points should be taken off for another reference to Eugene's online date during what was supposed to be an extremely serious episode.

To me it's more a problem of narrative laziness. They did similar stuff when Darryl and Alpha started stabbing each other, and when Beta took Gamma out of the Hilltop - time jumps to avoid having to write the tougher stuff, like they wouldn't know how to make it work. I like the season, but there's been enough of that already - enough to make me doubt these writers.

(I know, that's not something we'd see in The Last of Us, or if the show was produced by HBO)
