    Another self-defense story:

    "
The mother and sister of a woman whose estranged boyfriend broke into their Los Angeles County home and began strangling her managed to fend off the attacker by beating the man with golf clubs before ultimately stabbing him to death, authorities said.

Officers with the South Pasadena Police Department responded to a domestic violence call Saturday in the 500 block of Five Oaks Drive to find a window had been shattered at the home. A woman could be heard screaming from inside, police said. Officers entered the home through the broken window and found a suspect described by police as a White male in his 40s stabbed and beaten.

The original female victim was transported to the local hospital and treated for facial injuries and has been released.

The other two women were not charged with a crime because they were “well within their right to act in defense of their sister and daughter,” Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Barry Hall said, according to the Los Angeles Times. “They tried to pull him off, and it didn’t work; he was too strong. So they had to resort to using weapons.”

Obama. What a hypocrite. He comes out criticizing Americans love of big cars and cheap gas, but before he ran for President? He owned a big V8 Chrysler. When running for president he sold it and bought an eco car -- and never actually drove it much, being escorted everywhere.

Yep, the Dem mantra, "Do as I say, not as I do". It's going to be a long four years.

    "
Former President Barack Obama, in his latest memoir, criticized Americans for liking “cheap gas and big cars” more than they care about “the environment” – even during a catastrophic event like the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

The comments came during a section in Obama’s 700-page book, “A Promised Land,” released earlier this month."

    https://www.foxbusiness.com/politic...ap-gas-and-big-cars-more-than-the-environment

"Before he decided to run for president, Barrack Obama could be seen tooling around Chicago in a HEMI V8-powered 2005 Chrysler 300C. A later owner unsuccessfully attempted to sell the car on eBay with a starting bid of $1 million.

When he started his run for president, Obama traded the Chrysler for a far more fuel-efficient 2007 Ford Escape Hybrid. The Escape hardly had any miles on it when the U.S. Secret Service took over the driving duties for the future president.

When it comes to the cool car factor, Obama was outshined by Vice-President Joe Biden, who owns a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette."

Here's a Chicago A-hole for you: This guy was driving around the city stealing manhole covers off the street and selling them for scrap. The cops caught him with 31 of them in his truck. How many accidents and potential deaths is this man responsible for? Unbelievable.

Also, the article says the lids weigh 250 lbs each. That's almost 8000 pounds, or 4 tons. That's a heck of a lot to be putting in the back of a pickup truck! 2nd moral of this story? Don't buy a used car from this man.

A black restaurant owner in Dallas is in hot water today after telling women to stop getting up on the chairs and tables and twerking in his restaurant. He said his goal was to make a nice place for his people to go, and that that behavior wasn't appropriate. You have to feel for the guy, he obviously means what he says. Hopefully some mob won't burn his place down, as I'll bet the people who quietly agree with him that they should be able to go out for a meal without someone jumping up on the table, hollering, and dancing around outnumber the "freedom without restraint" types. Good luck, Mr. Kelley.

    "
“I invested a lot of money into buying this building and developing this concept so Black people can have somewhere nice to go to, OK? Somewhere where our people can feel good about ourselves as a culture,” Kelley told the room, following the twerking trouble.

“But all this twerking and s---, take it to Pryme, take it to Pink [two clubs in Dallas], don’t bring it here, because we’re a restaurant,” he said. “Beyond that, 75% of our customers are ladies. And I want men to show respect for how they carry themselves here. How can I tell the men to respect themselves when you guys are twerking on glass, here?”

“You want to do it? Get the f--- out of my restaurant,” Kelley added. “If you don't like it, get out, because I don't need your money. I need to provide something for my people. Don't do it again. Thank you.”"

Cars are a particular weakness for many. Personally, I shake my head at the trend of more and more SUVs and trucks (non business related) being driven. In my fantasy world, everyone would be driving small economy and /or electric cars but if if there are strict controls on vehicle emissions and fuel economy, meh. Knock yourselves out. Maybe I don't get it cause cars aren’t my thing but if people have the money they can spend it anyway they want. Let’s just not ruin the environment in the process of serving our vanity.

*oh, so you’re reading A Promised Land now?

I come down on the side of the business owner here. Who in their right mind would enter a restaurant and proceed to get up on the tables and chairs to twerk? When I see something like this, it makes me think we need to bring back the “charm school” so people can learn manners. :p

Gasoline engines are on the way out, to be replaced by electric cars. It won't be tomorrow, but 30 years from now? I doubt that gasoline powered cars will still be made (outside of for a niche market).

LOL, I must say I get kind of a kick from looking in our local hospital's doctor's parking lot and seeing how many new, loaded, full-sized pickups there are. It's like a Ford Raptor and Dodge Power Wagon exhibition! Now I don't blame anyone for wanting 4wd for the Winter, or a big car to be safe in an accident, but.... You've never seen such a collection of Baja racing drivers in your life.

On A Promised Land, I don't have to read about it, I live there!:) Actually, I do intend to read it one day, as Obama's supposed to be a good writer. I can contain my excitement enough to wait until it's relegated to the 99 cent bin or the libraries reopen, though. I don't want to contribute too much to his Hamptons fund. The more I think about it, as an actual taxpayer, why should I have to buy or borrow a copy at all? If anything, the Dems should be giving me a free copy as a thank you for paying for all their social programs. Yeah, where's all MY free stuff??! Free stuff! Free stuff! GooooOOOOHHH BIDEN!!!

Give it some time, you may find a copy in someone’s free little library, lol. TBH I’ve never bought a book written by any conservative so I understand. I prefer my historical fiction to be a little more in the distant past.

Apparently growing tired of living in the shadow of their urban namesake, the mayor of an upstate NY burg wanted to demonstrate they can commit just as many criminal offenses as their big city neighbors.

    These New Yorkers... :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

    "
The mayor of a small upstate New York village was arrested Tuesday for allegedly possessing crack cocaine, cops said.

Massena Mayor Tim Currier was busted after a brief police pursuit through the village near the Canadian border at about 12:25 p.m., according to authorities.

Currier, 55, was targeted as part of an undercover investigation of drug sales and possession, the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office said.

As Currier was fleeing police, he is accused of chucking one gram of crack out a passenger window.

He was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence, and failure to comply with a police officer."

OMG like this has never happened anywhere else in the US!
What was only mentioned briefly in the article at the very end was that Currier had been the Chief of Police and had served on the force for over twenty years prior to becoming mayor. Now maybe that’s one police department that should have been defunded.;)

Seriously, it’s kinda sad. Makes one wonder what leads someone who has been a force for good in a community for so long to make such poor decisions.

HP is leaving California and moving to Texas. Very sad, IMO, they've been a leading light of technology in CA for *so* many years!

    "
Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), the California firm that literally kickstarted Silicon Valley in a garage in 1939, is moving to Texas. The low-key announcement was made via an SEC filing on Dec. 1.

If California’s anti-jobs policies, its high taxes, capricious regulatory enforcement, and blackout-inducing energy policy can chase out the company that launched Silicon Valley, is any business, large or small, immune from pressure to move? Unless a company must directly serve the California market, such as a fast-food chain, the answer is a resounding “No!”"

Nope, it only happens in New York.:p

Some people can take drugs socially, some people try it once and are hooked for life. This man made bad choices, but ultimately they *were* his choices. It is sad.

Adolph Hitler has been voted back in office! Really.:eek::eek:

I thought it was kind of funny until he came out with the campaign slogan, "Namibia Uber Alles". ... and "no", he didn't really use that as a campaign slogan. Sheesh.

    "
Adolf Hitler Uunona has been elected with 85 percent of the vote for a seat on the regional council in the former German colony, where street names, people and places still have German names. However, Adolf Uunona as he prefers himself to be known, says he wants to assure people that he has no plans for world domination.

He told German tabloid paper Bild: "My father named me after this man. He probably didn't understand what Adolf Hitler stood for. As a child I saw it as a totally normal name. Only as a teenager did I understand that this man wanted to conquer the whole world."

He appears on the election nomination list as Adolf H. Uunona. He won the seat on the ticket of the ruling SWAPO party which has ruled Namibia since independence from apartheid South Africa in 1990. He also said that while his wife calls him Adolf, it would be too late for him to change his name officially.

"The fact I have this name does not mean I want to conquer Oshana," he said, referring to the region where he won the election. It doesn't mean I'm striving for world domination.""

Pfft, lol, but with stories like this, FOX gives me that National Enquirer vibe, like they scrape the bottom of the barrel for sensational but ultimately irrelevant news stories although I know they’re not the only ones cause people do love their sensational irrelevant shit. Who doesn’t right?;)

The moral of the story for me is that in your profession if you presume to serve the people of your community, state, or even country, watch how you comport yourselves or you may end up on FOX news.

LOL, I love reading the bottom stories on Fox with the same guilty pleasure I get from reading tabloids in the supermarket checkout lane . Hee hee, what can I say? :D

On the man, Meh. There are 3000 or so counties in the U.S., if each of them has a few small towns in it, there are probably 10,000 plus towns. If every town has a mayor, deputy mayor and police chief, that's proabably 30,000 officials. Having a few of those public officials going off the rails every year would only be one person out of ten thousand getting in trouble, and is probably to be expected. ,,, of course realizing that it's numerically reasonable won't stop me from clutching my pearls and swooning in shock every time I read about these truly disgraceful, upsetting, and revolting people.

Reefer madness. The House passed a bill decriminalizing marijuana today. It probably won't make it though the Senate though... at least through *this* Senate.

I'm not sure where I stand on legalizing marijuana. On the one hand, from a personal freedom standpoint, I'm all for people doing what they want, and it doesn't seem that toxic. OTOH, teens can develop several long term or permanent mental problems with MJ use, and if it becomes legal for adults, teen use will increase as well, so... I'd rather not legalize it, I guess.

There are some interesting things we could do if it was legal, though, like having the government ship "free" weed by the truckload for anyone who wants it to the inner cities where all the murders in the country tend to take place and see if people mellow out and quit killing each other when they're high all the time.
