Would it be better for AMC to cancel season 2 and move on from this show. The ratings for World Beyond are really low. It dropped to the point to where just a little more than half a million people were watching the season 1 finale. People tend to say how no one pays attention to Fear well Fear has been around for six seasons and it hasn't dropped below a million viewers yet. Does AMC really want a Walking Dead show that is getting a 0.2 or 0.3 in the ratings because that is probably what will happen if they go on with a season 2. This is supposed to be the channels prized franchise after all.

The season 1 finale could easily serve as a series finale as they got to their destination. Sure there may be a thread or two left hanging (such as Iris supposedly being important too and her wanting to rescue Hope) but really those are two threads that really aren't that important.

If AMC wants to keep this franchise going they need to be protective of it and keeping a show going that is trending the way it is isn't really the way to do that.

That's part of the TWD core audience though, so they don't want to further aggravate the fanbase. Yes, it's a terrible show but maybe there are people that want to see an ending. I'd make it a very short 6 episode final season and be done with it. I have zero interest in how it concludes though.

I really wish they had gone with an anthology series approach, like FX does with American Horror Story. We could've had one season with the backstory of the Governor, and do the same for others in the TWD universe. David Morrissey even commented in an interview that he'd like to come back to do something like that.

And they could also tell fresh stories around new characters during some seasons. It could revive the whole genre because you'd get back to the sudden deaths etc, that we had in the early seasons. With it being just one season, characters could die at anytime.
