I know this isn't really the same thing, but my first job was working in the box office at a movie theater. I would often get yelled at because of the ticket prices, and mind you, this was in the late 90s/early 2000s when tickets were like $8. A common accusation was that we, the lowly employees, were somehow getting a cut of the ticket prices, and I'd always be like, bro, I make minimum wage (which was around $5.75 at the time). My favorite was when they would complain that "the last time I came here tickets were (insert ridiculously low price here)!!!" And I'd be like, well if you only come to the movies once every 5 years, I don't feel bad for you. Working at a movie theater is one of the reasons I hate people so much.

Oh if you only knew how bad I loathe people. Dealing with people is the bane of my existence. ..

Sort of related to the above posts: I still have stress dreams sometimes that either I work at Target and the sales floor is trashed, and I only have a few minutes to get it all straightened up, or that I am a server again and I get like 10 tables sat all at the same time.

haha, I have dreams like that too. From 18 years ago when I worked in a restaurant, I still get dreams that I'm way behind and I can't catch up, and the meals are all wrong. I'll also have dreams that i'm still in college and its close to the end of the semester and I've forgotten to show up to most of the classes, and don't even know where my notes and books are, and its way to late to catch up.

Isn't it crazy how that stuff comes back to haunt you? I have moved on with my life, get out of my head already, target! I still shop there religiously though so I'm sure that doesn't help.

My dad, at age 75, tells me he still has those types of dreams from when he worked at a Jewelry store at age 16. I think they're here to stay. ;)

My second job was bagging groceries at Vons and I still have stress dreams about things coming down the conveyer belt towards me and me having to bag them against a clock like I'm on a game show.

Oh wonderful, so I may have at least 40 years of these dreams ahead of me...

Had we known how long we would be affected by these jobs, i bet we would have asked for more than minimum wage just like the McDonald's workers.

Also, there are actually games in the app store that you can download and it's all serving tables to beat the clock...there might even be one for bagging groceries. Who in their right mind would want to relive that nightmare!

My very first job was as a dishwasher the day after I turned 16, or as I told people when they asked me what my job was, "a hydroceramic engineer" lol. My friend, who turned 16 two weeks before I did, got a job at the same restaurant a week before me, and got me the job there. It was actually a pretty demanding place to work, the owner's philosophy was to have less employees and make them all work harder. My friend got fired a month later for not being able to keep up with the dishes, lol, and I ended up working there for 8 years, through the rest of high school and the first two years of college I worked there all year, and after that just summers.

I moved through all the positions there [shut up, sickos], and the last 3 or 4 summers I worked there I was the manager during the summer, so the owner could stay home [he was getting old]. My time as a waiter was actually usually limited to days when we were super busy and the waitresses got overwhelmed and I had to take a few tables myself, but for some reason, whenever I dream about the place, its always when I'm a waiter.

In other words, you slept your way from dishwashing to managing :p

Target was my first job on record (i worked on a farm during an entire summer when i was 13 but it was all under the table), i applied immediately when i was 16 and had my driver's license. A couple of years after working there, i was offered a manager position but i always felt like i was on my way out at that job, like any time i was going to leave lol. So i turned it down...which, looking back i know was silly. It's never bad to take a manager position no matter where you are.

I always do self-checkout at the store so I can bag my own groceries. It's like a weird game of Tetris I like to play with myself and I have a very specific system. My husband knows to back off and let me do my thang when we hit the register lol

I got my first job at the theater as soon as I turned 16 as well. My sister worked there and basically told them to hire me or else. I've never actually properly interviewed for any of my jobs haha

At the theater, the girls were only allowed to work in the box office or concessions because the general manager was a perv and thought men would buy more stuff from the girls. I only got to clean theaters with the boys when I snuck away from what I was supposed to be doing ;)

I do self checkout too whenever possible :) Although I'm not that great at bagging because when i did cashiering duties at target we didn't have the mass amounts of groceries like you do at Vons. I always end up overstuffing my grocery bags.

I also had a pervy boss when i worked at dairy queen for a couple of summers...i worked both there and at Target for a while in my late teens. Anyway, my boss would leave me and another girl in charge quite a bit while he went off to do other things, and if someone turned in an application while he was gone his first question would be "what did she look like?" I'm surprised he didn't have any law suits on his hands lol.

We had to go to a few weeks of training on how to bag groceries at Vons. I have a feeling stores don't do that anymore because it doesn't seem the baggers I come across now follow the same rules we did and it bugs me lol

It was definitely a different time back then. My shift manager, who I was friends with but was probably 20 years older than me, use to take me on bank runs even though it was technically not allowed because I was under 18. We would always stop at Wendy's and get Frostys on our way back. Those were the days, but looking back, I probably shouldn't have done that hahaaa

Oh i know what you mean - all of the girls who worked at DQ would just joke about the owner and his pervy ways. He never tried anything, it was all just comments he made that probably weren't appropriate for teenage girls. I think being young and naive we just wanted to do our job and not really rock the boat...he had a family too with i think 4 kids.

You're 88 and your dad is 75. That's some fascinating time-space continuum warpage there, Neuro. ;)

Oh old jobs... I've only had 2 jobs... I worked At a gas station in a podunk town. And my current job. My boss at my first job was so pervy that he had a hole cut in the wall of the gas station and another wall unit air conditioner installed. He liked to see the effect the cold had on the young ladies in the summer...

My current job, 1 boss was fired for downloading a whole lot of REALLY ****ed up porn to his work computer. .. 2 girls 1 cup kinda stuff.. another member of management was forced to retire and another suspended for months due to porn on their work computers..

The boss would literally disappear into his office for hours just to download porn. He would skip meetings, etc..

The people who work for UPS, Walmart.com, and the US Postal service in general ARE STUPID ****ING ASSHOLES!

I ordered volume 9 of TWD comics from Walmart.com on 4/13, and have been tracking it ever since.

I've been tracking my package via both UPS and Walmart, and NONE of their damn tracking info match.

UPS tracking info, it's all over the damn place:

Can someone tell me WHY the hell my book keeps bouncing back and forth between Louisville, Kentucky and Brooks Kentucky? My book is due to arrive at my Walmart in Louisiana on the 27th, so I need to find out if it will get here on time, or if I'll have to open up a damn claim. POS!

PS: I've already e-mailed UPS to try and find out what's going on and they were useless. THEN, I called 5 different Walmart's in Louisville, KY trying to find out what's going on, and they TOO, didn't know shit. I did all of this last week, and I'm getting really pissed off.
