Let's hope he does a better job than the previous directors.

 

The writer did a piss poor job of writjng dialogue for Madison. When Alicia was telling her mother that she is her cild too and she is there while Nick as usual has wanderedoff, Madison would have hugged her and told her she knows and appreciates that but Nick is the lost little boy.

This show is not good at writing for female roles.

 

I stumbled on a clip of this scene and I refrained from commenting on it because I haven't watched any of the show this season, but I can't hold back now...it seemed silly to me that Alicia wouldn't understand why Madison cares about her lost son. You don't have 2 kids in case you lose one of them, Alicia. But then again, she's a teenager right? I guess that's pretty teenager-ish of her.

 

Yes she is a teenager, sister and daughter but not a mother. She knows Nick walked away from them. She knows Nick is a big boy now and needs to start taking care of himself instead of relying on mommy to keep bailing him out.

Nick is a screw up, a slacker, a druggy.

 

Reformed screw up, reformed slacker, reformed druggie. Nick never relied on his mother to bail him out, that was all Madison. AGAIN....UNDERSTANDABLE...and definitely needed pre ZA......but ...Nick is trying to better himself. Alicia understands this. Madison is the one holding Nick back. All of her babying of him the first half of the season is one of the things that irked me the most and most likely would have been what would have gotten him killed had he stayed.

If he was still showing signs of drug use, with a complete disconnect to himself and to what this world has become.....it would be MORE understandable. But he has demonstrated in all kinds of ways, that he is actually more capable in this world than SHE is. People change. It's almost like Madison doesn't WANT him to change. I think she's addicted to taking care of him. Maybe even addicted to him being sick.
