Why do the horses always get it bad in this show? It's never any other animal, just horses. And pigs.

 

Dogs too.

maybe because horses you see nowadays are so inbred and fragile they dont do very well fending for themselves. Also, they are social animals, unless they have a herd, they do not do well in the wild psychologically.

 

Darryl slammed that one walker's head into a dead ram's horn, so sheep aren't doing too well in the ZA either.

I hated that horse scene. I see now that the horse was symbolic of Darryl, blah blah but I almost turned the show off right there. Coincidentally I was supposed to testify in court the next day in the case of a neighbor who neglected his horses (several of which died) so I had been re-living those memories and may have been a bit sensitive about it, but I hate it when any show depicts the suffering of animals just for cheap audience reactions. I had to stop watching Hemlock Grove for that reason...I know it was a vampire show and all but they just kept on having these unnecessary scenes of animals - usually ones that someone loved - being none-too-humanely killed. Not my idea of entertainment.
