Ok, so the Rick and Pete conversation screams-"About to get thrown through a window". Although; I'm not getting as much of a douchebag-spousal abuser vibe from Pete as I did in the comic. Are they changing the story to Jessie and Pete just having a tedious and loveless marriage? If so, wouldn't that make Rick the bad guy? But, then again; this arc was used to make Rick appear at the very extreme brink of being "too far gone"; is was supposed to paint him in a bad light. But in the comic, the whole domestic violence angle Rick look like a white-knight no matter what he did. Could be; they're taking the domestic violence element out and swap it with the loveless marriage angle; which would greatly succeed in painting Rick in the proper dark, "too gar gone" type of light. Because he would essentially be a rage-filled home wrecker at that point. But then, Rick's inappropriate actions in antagonizing Pete starts a reactions which leads to the bad side of Pete, the side Rick saw inside him, to be exposed. Which will then prove Rick to be the better man; although he used the wrong methods.

Also, I don't know the context of that conversation leading up to the point in the video. But when Pete said-"Let's be friends, man."-felt like he was trying to quell an argument. As if the whole reason for this beer-laden man-to-man had something to do with a brewing conflict; or some type of animosity between the two.

Also, when I watched the Tara & Eugene sneak peek last night; starting with the first few seconds of the clip and through the entirety of the promo I couldn't shake the feeling of the scene having a very eerie reminiscence of comic issue #98.

Early morning, Eugene and someone making a run outside the walls, walking leisurely down the street in a semi-urban area, having a nice, normal conversation about life and the goings on at ASZ; and then you add the scenes from the 514 promo(Eugene shakily aiming a pistol and then his dialogue of "I take no responsibility for this" as he kneels over something on the floor). Seems like all the pieces are there...what do you think Tony Davis? ?

It would make sense for Tara to go if they're planning on introducing Holly in the construction site scene next week; as it seemed she was being setup to assume some of Holly's role. She will undoubtedly be the "bloody woman" that's been rumored. And it's all but confirmed that the construction site scene will happen in 514.

I'm also worried how Gabe's tattle-tale moment will turn out. Will Deanna react the same way comic Douglas did? Laughing in Gabe's face and shrugging him off; saying that he's ridiculous and that anyone who's survived this long has done terrible things to make it, including him, and also that the fact that Rick is capable of the things Gabe is whining about is good because that's the kind of man the safe zone needs. Or, will she be disturbed and worried after hearing an example of the all-encompassing, unrelenting and brutal fury that Rick has at his disposal? Will she begin to worry that Rick and the gang is too strong? Will she feel as if she just allowed a small army to walk through her gates, letting the proverbial wolf into the hen house?

No, I could see the underlying theme with Pete. That "let's be friends." remark is undeniably a veiled threat. I've worked security in bars before, and when you see someone acting like that, they are all about the intimidation. That is what drunk Pete thinks he is doing... He is failing big time, but when you see the bottle tipping like that observant behavior is out the window. Rick saw this, as you can see him watching Pete's every move as he went out the door. People in that state can turn from smiling compadre to assailant in a moments notice. Pete is a controlling douche on par with Ed Peltier, but is the cowardly type that tries to keep it behind closed doors. Watch the party scene again, as he maneuvers between Rick and his wife mid-sentence, and puts Jessie "in her place" about the drinks. Watch her reactions when he tells her how something is going to be; Little to no eye contact, sheepish posture... See Carol, season 1.

That scene with Tara and Eugene does look a bit too close to a similar comic moment, but this is really too soon to be scouting for those reasons, and introducing those particular characters. Not that this could not be a remix of that event with the rooftop scene between Glenn and Heath, introducing us to the fact that there are some bad folks in the vicinity... I would be elated if this replaces Abe with Tara though (Nothing against the hotness that is Tara, but I've been an Abe fan since before there was a TV show.

As for Gabe... I am 100% certain it will work as well as it did in the GN, as so far the story has been at about 100% involving him; Never liked him in print, I do not like him live... But the actor is doing a phenomenal job on him, as this is pretty much print perfect.

I am legitimately nervous about Tara next week. If there's a full summary this week I'll definitely be reading it because being alone with Eugene gives me bad vibes.

Maybe this convo could be more freely had in the spoiler section. No one would have to watch for comic spoilers.

Killing off Tara would mean only Abe and crew would the only season 4 people left. Tara better not be killed off just to make room....

The way they are bringing in key elements from the comic, yet mix mashing them up. Wouldn't it be a big surprise to everyone, if it was Jessie, who shot her lousy husband.

You are so spot on about Pete! Did you have experience working with domestic abuse cases?
