Ok here goes. I'm just wondering what happened to this show?? I don't even recognize it anymore. I thought this episode would really intrigue me since Rick returned after a long hiatus but its just falling flat for me. I really don't see what was accomplished in this episode. What exactly did we learn? Other than Tyreese having the same conversations with Sasha about the 12 steps of bereavement, Sasha carrying on as if Bob was her soul mate and she dated him briefly for like 3 days, Daryl now sides with Tyrese's pacifist ideology, Beth can get a fat old, guy to do anything for her over strawberries, Glenn going on a fishing play date with Thing 1 and Thing 2, Abe on his knees all day, Maggie is worried about Eugene getting sunburned...I can go on and on. Again, I ask the question what is this show turning into?

I'm also just totally...I mean totally furious and deeply saddened by what is being done with Michonne. I wanted to give this episode the benefit of the doubt, including the role that Michonne has in this episode. But yet again, I am perplexed as to what is being done with her. I thought that maybe be would get a real clue as to why she is staying behind, but there is really no exchange of words from her and Rick about why she is staying. I guess we can assume because Rick trusts Michonne with his children. Ok, fair enough. But why the hell is Tyrese going on this mission instead? Last time I checked Tyreese was weary of the world and weary of seeing death. The same Tyreese that is emotionally damaged and could not kill Martin who threatened Judith's life. He also looked sick to his stomach watching the butchering of the Termites, but now he is perfectly capable of going on a mission that could end up turning into a deadly battle? This does not make any sense to me unless Tyrese did some meditation yoga to get over the apparent trauma he was going through. Michonne, a perfectly capable, battle hardened warrior is staying behind but Teddy Bear Tyrese who can't even seem to harm a fly will be an asset to this mission? I am so upset over the way Michonne has been demoted so far this season. I don't have a hint as to what kind of story arc she will get. It makes no sense whatsoever that she would be concerned about Father Gabe's well being.

There was absolutely no build up to Daryl agreeing with Tyrese's plan. Don't tell me that Daryl all of sudden has learned to become a pacifist like Hershel because in the previous episode he had no qualms with leaving Noah to die. Now, all of sudden he is down with a peaceful resolution? My guess is that Daryl knows more about the hospital set up than what he is letting on. If the writers wanted me to believe this then they should've shown Daryl discussing what he knows in lengthy detail with Rick. Other than that its another OOC moment that is leaving me scratching my head. I don't mind the group disagreeing with Rick at times, but if this plan goes sideways it can end with many people losing their lives. Is that a chance that they are willing to take? Team Prison should be in the mindset that shit can hit the fan so they should be prepared to deal with a hostile threat. I have no doubt in my mind that Dawn is some kind of lunatic. Noah even knows that so I'm not sure why he has not spoken up. I don't think she would go down without a fight so Team Prison has to be prepared to kill if that is the only clear option. When is Rick's strategy and way of thinking going to rub off on these people? After the Governor and Terminus you would think these people would know how to deal with a threat. I think its time for Rick to restore the Rickatorship.

I was glad to see some of the old Maggie returning (although no mention of Beth). I wish she shot Abe. Just bust a cap in his ass because his shit is getting to be real old. Dude, we get it you were fooled by a fat guy with a Mullet and the fate of the world does not rest in your hands. I wish I could feel sorry for Abe, but I don't. I'm still wondering how anyone could believed Eugene.
I wanted to change the channel on Glenn and the groupies with him. Somehow fishing and filtering water is more important than Maggie and Glenn starting that firetruck up and heading back to the church to be with their real family. Maggie is somehow concerned for a con artist that was leading all of them on a false mission with false hopes instead of going back to the church. I thought she felt guilty for leaving them...whatever.

I liked Beth in this episode, but the hospital setting is a bore. I still don't know how Dawn assumed power. If Beth could so easily deceive her in Slabtown then she is a lame dictator. I think this whole hospital arc is booty. I thought there would be a bigger picture. A twist that would knock my socks off. Maybe they are doing experiments on people. Using them as guinea pigs to find a cure or maybe just doing something incredibly sick but no, we get Dawn and her Goonies going around rescuing people and turning them into nurses's aides. Since she is officially the first female villain, I thought she would intrigue me but I'm not getting anything from her or this arc. I want it to end...quickly.

Sasha trusting some random guy named Bob. Just because his name is Bob? Makes no sense. Daryl using a Walker's head as weapon. Omigod, what was that? Gabriel escaping under the floor boards. What is up with this guy? Either he is paranoid and hearing voices or he just wants to be a recluse. The actor that plays him intrigues me though.

Rick is the one bright spot of sunshine for me watching this show nowadays. Andrew Lincoln is just terrific even when the writing is plain lazy. He plays Rick with such ferocity and dexterity. He is one of the only reasons why I have not quit this show yet because I'm hanging onto this show by a thread. I really wish the quality of this show could be as excellent as Lincoln's acting. It just isn't. We have practically learned nothing significantly new about many of the main characters. The plot has not seemed to go anywhere. Characters are acting bizarre suddenly. Its becoming like clockwork in every episode that a character does something odd or incredibly stupid just to forward the plot. Nobody has really mentioned Beth except Daryl. Hershel would be shaking his head. Rosita and Tara have had more screen time that Michonne. It is criminal what is being done to Michonne seeing Danai is immensely talented.

The more I ponder on the absurdity of how the plot is progressing and some of the characters, the more Gimple does not seem to have a grasp on this show. I'm thinking this guy should've never been showrunner...I'm sorely missing Darabont right now. He seemed to have a passion for the show and bringing the best quality that is missing now. It feels like certain episodes are geared toward certain portions of the fandom. It also feels like Gimple has read every fan fiction about Queen Carol so now the whole group including Rick will continue to repeat that "they owe Carol everything" in every episode as if Carol has a huge advantage over everyone in this show. I don't hate Carol but the kind of revere that she is getting in this show seems like she is this Savior. Carol's great. I don't deny that, but its weird and certainly sounds like favoritism.

Fantastic post, could not agree more! Good thing you don't read the comic, you'd be even more disappointed about where they've taken these characters (with the exception of Rick), it's just sad.

I agree with every word of this except the part of liking Beth. Lol. So nice to see someone else that isn't singing Gimples praises. The man is clueless on how to properly develop characters. Darabont made some mistakes too, but at least he made character feel important. I could go on and on.

Completely agree with you, Kingston!

Everyone is so out of character, now... what the heck? It's getting to be a cliché and boring. And YES, Michonne needs more screen time - and more development.

This whole hospital storyline is soooo boring. If there isn't a more sinister plot behind the plot we see, then it was incredibly lame and lazy writing/storytelling.

Season 4 was so amazing. It's just so sad to see what has happened in Season 5. Aside from the premier episode, this season is very lackluster and disjointed.

Thing 1 and Thing 2. Too funny!

And agree, they are just filling time with stupid stupid things that mean nothing... the water filtration, begging Abraham to take a drink, chit-chatting with the baldy cop. And where did Rick and Daryl run off to, when they left Sasha by herself with the cop?

It's all just so non-thought-out. So sad.

Bad bad season so far.

Not enough of Abraham touching Rick's butt. Would have liked to have seen these other cops appear a little more in Slabtown as well, even if just a couple more establishing lines. Not enough Percy. Slabtown is also what I call my chest.

I think some people on here are analysing things too deeply - to the extent that whenever the show takes one direction - but could possibly have gone another way, they say the other way was better/more "believable"/whatever. You could do this sort of analysis for any episode right from Season 1 - but back then people were just enjoying the show and not trying to find fault with it. Some things have disappointed me - but overall I still really enjoy it. If you don't, just stop watching. I did that with Prison Break - where I felt I could predict nearly everything that was going to happen next.

Well, neither as such...I guess my point is that if we love this show we shouldn't be too critical of it. But that's just my opinion - that if so many things annoy a person about a show it's time for them to stop watching. In the same way I know people who love Tolkein and the Lord of the Rings but hate the films and don't watch them. After all, it's meant to be "entertainment".
I know it's the "complaints and criticisms" thread but some people seem unhappy about everything:zombies_neutral:
