It's kill or be killed, pure and simple. There probably was a time when they would have not considered an option like that but now they realize 1) groups like this will kill them without thought 2) wiping out a large dangerous group ensures them rations, food etc

They walk a thin line now, and I can see the moral qualms with these actions, so who knows by the end of the story they might not be any better than the savages they wiped out previously.

 

They are always dropping little bollocks like that, always... I loved the episode, really did, but I cant believe that it was such an easy fight, no one was woken up by any of the doors being opened or anything like that. Little bollock droppings always going on in twd. I also thought about the walker heads and how pristine they were. I do find it so odd and stupid that the group would trust the hilltop so easily. Rick kept saying right up to entering the gates at hilltop 'If this is a trick/set up you're dead' basically. Whats stopping the hilltop from dropping them in it with the Saviours? I have always hated how on the one hand they pretend to be all cautious in one breath then so careless in the next. I choose to overlook these things, but they are always there in this show. I actually think, if it were any other show Id probably have gotten bored and stopped watching by now. I did with a few others but there's something about twd that keeps us watching.

ETA: The Saviors were all stoned. I just realised why they were all able to sleep thru the raid. Makes sense now.
