On first read I agreed with you but then in retrospect I do not think that Negan would have sounded so "happy" in stumbling upon Gregory.

UGH But then again he might be happy in finding Gregory in order to use him for intel.

GAH.....it is a mystery for sure. The only thing I am 99% certain of is that it is not Sherry as some seem to be speculating. I think Negan would be pissed if he came across Sherry

 

^^^ this, for sure. Simon is way over his expiry date. He's going to get to know Lucille, 100%. Either that or he'll have his face ironed, but my bet is that Negan is going to want serious blood for what he did.

Man, what a turn of events. Going back to 6x16/7x01, if you had told me Negan would be strangling to death his Right Hand Man by the end of season 8, I would've been dumbfounded. Appropriate then that Negan is using his bare hands lol. Also a good mirror to Daryl and Rick's quarreling, and simultaneously Morgan strangling Richard and Jared commenting on that in 8x14. Great storytelling

And what would make this scene perfect? In the pic you can see saviors in the background so looks like this will be a public event. After I want to see Negan visibly shaken and super pissed off, he knows Simon had followers so I hope he starts shouting at everybody something like "Are you following me or not? No more insurrection! No more defying orders! I don't ever wanna have to do this shit again! Who are you?!" and the crowd unanimously responds "I'm Negan!" I really wanna see this or at least some form of it, otherwise the ball is dropped.

 

I wonder if the guy holding the mic on a stick will also say he’s Negan.
