Rick's I did it all for you speech seems to undercut the plot movement of Carl's death being the catalyst for a change in his motivation from kill them all to build the world. For the longest I've always believed the only difference btw Rick and the Governor (and Negan for that matter) was his children/family. His family gave him a reason to fight for; not sure how killing them off makes him want to be a better man

well we met Daryl during season 1 not in the beginning, he was not part of the core group.

 

we see carol for the first time in the same episode that daryl is introduced (episode 3 of season 1)

were you okay with Carl killing himself rather than rick or michonne having to take on that task?

at first I was mortified they were going that route but then when they (thankfully) decided to have it done off camera I was okay with it
