I think Carl offing himself was the least painful to watch option. It would have been even more painful and horrifying watching Rick shoot Carl IMO.

 

I thought it was better that Carl did it. Can't have Rick doing it. As a father of 2, step-dad of 4, I couldn't ever do that to any of our 6 kids.

I was thinking that Carl didn’t want to have his Dad go through what he went trough when he had to put his Mother down in the prison...JMO
