0.75. Porno-violence like with Glen and Abraham. Too many characters were killed just to add some juice to the tepid season. That's proven by the lame answers to questions today. Also, it's not credible that the little gnome could be in charge of a closet in that world. Daryl could have thrown her off the bluff after taking the shotgun ten times. Too many irrelevant deaths, when Henry would have sufficed, is low rent slasher shock material. Tara (my favorite character)? The older woman? Shameful. They will hemorrhage viewers again like with Glen/Abraham. Killing Alpha will be a nothing event--not a satisfying victory/revenge. Too much non-credible damage. It will be like getting your armor on, blowing the trumpet, and charging off to kill Pee Wee Herman because he wiped out the Navy Seals and slaughtered 500 babies.

The absence of logic at the summit annoyed me too. At the council, Tara said she didn't want Lydia because it would cause an attack. Then there was the "Remember when Rick didn't trust you..." line that won the day. However, that argument was not relevant to what Tara said. She didn't say she didn't trust Lydia as an individual. She could have loved her and said the same thing. Moreover, the others accepted into the fold despite initial mistrust were not similarly situated to Lydia. Their acceptance did not invite a broad attack. That fuzzy thinking was absurd for the best and brightest.

I don't agree with much of your rant, but this, yeah... This whole thing made no sense. Why capture the best fighters only to let them go? Why tell Darryl your whole plan, you think you're a James Bond vilain?

And why, oh why, didn't Darryl took the chance to overpower her when they were alone? There's a pretty good chance they're gonna kill Michonne, Carole and the rest of the captured. She's telling you she got in the Kingdom and hints at disaster. She could pretty much shoot you at any second or push you down to the horde. And you just stand there and listen to her threats? Exactly none of the Whisperer storyline makes any sense.

10 from me and that feels stingy. my emotions were all over the place.i cried when connie and kelly were'talking'
i was terrified of alpha in that green frock and straw hat.
i wanted to slap henry and lydia for being young and in love
by the end of the ep i was all kinds of upset.

now that was a damn good tv show.thank you to all those involved you did a great job.

8 from me. The episode was well directed but I have a nagging feeling that they are repeating the same old TWD storyline. Build up the enemy to be unbeatable for a season or two, then beat them. I hope I am wrong about where this is headed.

ETA: If the series defies my expectations and Carol kills Alpha next episode, I would up my rating to 9 because it would deviate from the old formula.

I will not give this episode a 10 because there was no explanation as to how the whisperers kidnapped so many people without detection.

I finally gave up my 10

My only complaint would be little Judith's crazy boss throw at the target sending Eugene into the dunk tank. Seemed contrived ;)

Definitely a 10 for me. I don't think I'll ever forget the pike reveal scene,

I haven't been around here for season 9, but off the top of my head I think I've given out like seven 10s this season haha

However, I have retroactively marked down episodes from season 7 and 8 now that some time has passed. I don't think I'll mark down my 10s in the future though for season 9. This is hands down my favorite season and those 10s are well deserved.

I think I would rank the seasons as...

    9,5,2,6,7,1,3,8,4

My memory is terrible so I can't even try to pretend I could do this exercise, but season 1 seems to be terribly low!

Season 9 is certainly up there with the best TWD offered.

Took me a minute to understand your ranking system. I was all "I thought he said season 9 is his fave season, why is he giving it a 4?" LOL

I really liked this episode. Kept me guessing a lot.
Absolutely loved the reveal of "Deborah" in her green dress and also when she sat next to Lydia. Thought Lydia didn't seem "scared enough" when her mum suddenly appeared so shockingly in the middle of her Kingdom "safe zone". Loved the pike reveal and the casual way Alpha alluded to the Northern border of her new territory beforehand...
I think that the Pike line up was maybe a little weak. I get Tara and to a certain extent Enid - but think they should have kept the Highwaymen out of it and added Rosita or Ezekiel for true shock value. Henry just wasn't a big show character - nor Tammy Rose or them teenage kids. But overall, a gripping and very distinctive episode. 9 for me.

Season 1 is tricky. It's a legendary season that started it all, but it's just too unfair to compare 6 episodes (the first three are the best, then the quality honestly tapers off from there) to 16 episodes. The sheer volume of content provided in each season (as long as it's good) will almost always put any given season above season 1.

Seasons 3, 4, and 8 just either didn't do much for me, focused on characters I immensely dislike, or featured some of the most irritating episodes of the series (or had all three issues).

I’m realizing more and more I simply did not like the prison/gov episodes that much.

My best seasons are this one and 6. To me 6 ****ing kicked ass. Well aside from dumpstergate and the finale. Lol

2 has now come in third. Yes I’m a fan of the soap opera season.

    1. But you are here now so YAY

    2. My ranking would be 9, 6, 5, 7, 2, 4, 8-1-3 . The last three seasons in my ranking are rather flux. No telling from one moment to the next in what order those three will be.

I think 1 & 2 would be top-3 with 9, but I can't be sure. I know I enjoyed the Darabont signature of the first two seasons and that it's the main reason we all got attached real quick to a lot of characters.

Not a fan of that part too. Really disliked the Governor. Apart from the lady with dirt on her face from FearTWD, I think he might have been the lamest vilain for me.

The Governor is my least favorite character ever between the two shows. I would go as far to say that my feelings border on hate, but since he's a fictional character, I'll stick with dislike. Hahaha

That's probably why season 4 comes in last because of those two bottle episodes. Season 3 featured way too much governor, but there was just a lot of good to balance that out. TWD has it's share of "filler episodes" each season, but season 4 was a "filler season"... It's like a whole lot of nothing between the prison arc and the hunters (except or episodes 8, 14, and 16).

I love, love, LOVE the soap opera season. Shane was such an amazing antagonist.
