Okay, just a fan theory, so hear me out...

    1. Abe has lost his will to go on. He was only living because he had a purpose: to save the world.

    2. That purpose was destroyed when Eugene told everyone about his lie.

    3. They keep showing close-up shots of his bandaged, bloody hand.

    4. You can only become a walker if another walker bites or scratches you.

    5. You can get walker blood all over you (your eyes, mouth, scrapes) without turning, as evidenced by all the walker blood that spews on everybody's face when they kill a walker.

    6. We've been through most of the conflicts that the group could possibly experience: the governor, cannibals, the big infested city, insane Shane...what more is there besides finding a cure and getting it to Washington?

My question: So, why do they keep showing close-ups of Abe's hand? Having a wound does not make it any more likely that you will turn into a walker (unless it is a fatal wound and you turn after you die from the wound). It might get infected and need to be cut off, but that doesn't seem like a good enough reason to focus on it for so many episodes.

My answer? Abe's hand was scratched by a walker. He hasn't turned because ABE IS THE CURE. He has a new purpose. The group still has to go to Washington and get Abe to some scientists.

#4 is incorrect. People who die come back as walkers .

    @ JEA13 Yeah, true.

Interesting theory though, if you ask me.

    Seasons 6 and 7 for sure, maybe even 8 and 9 and 10 and 11 and 12 and 13 and 14 and 15 and 16 and 17 and 18 and 19 and 20. And 21, and 22, and 23 and 24...
Oh, sorry, I got up to some good speed there and almost couldn't stop myself.

They keep showing Abe's hand because he beat some people to death with it which ultimately got his family killed (because they felt they had to get away from him). The wound never healed, which is a metaphor for the fact that the loss of his family is for him a spiritual wound that never healed.

    He's not the cure.

Abes hand is a symbol that hes not healing and not just on a physical level, Eugene met him at his lowest ebb and he hasnt had time to grieve because he went straight from his lowest to being given a purpose, now that purpose is gone, the hurt is back and he knows he has yet to heal, hence the references to his hand.

Ms. McLeod was the woman who Milton told the Governor should be excused from fighting because of arthritis in her hands. That wasn't the truth, though. The reality is, Milton was a genius and knew she was an unstoppable, uncontrollable killing machine. Had she stepped on the battlefield, nobody would have survived-- be they from team prison or team Woodbury. She's been missing since the s3 finale. Life at the prison likely wasn't her style so she left to quench her bloodthirst in the wild. She's out there. Somewhere. She's kicking ass and doesn't care what your name is. Also, she's immune to the walker virus, and to vampires. Here's a picture of her:
