I've seen this character referred to as Alex as well as Charlie. What going on with the Charlie thing?

 

Originally we heard that a character named Charlie would survive the plane crash and meet our group. Someone posted that "Charlie" meant the enemy during the Viet Nam war, so maybe they changed her name to Alex when an Asian was cast for the role. They were going for a name that could be male or female so we wouldn't know for sure who would make it.

 

Ahh ok, just checked out IMDB. It's weird they have her listed as Charlie on FTWD Flight 462 but Alex on the regular show and sometimes Alex/Charlie.

 

Or someone reminded the writers/showrunner that the name Charlie was used during the Vietnam War by American soldiers to identify VietCongs.In the now PC era calling an Asian Charlie might not be appropriate, its second only to the G word.

 

To be thorough that was Victor Charlie, a phonetic abbreviation for Viet Cong or V.C.
