That's what I thought why he was throwing it out. They already had his gun, so a little poison would be a quick and non-dangerous way for the gals to kill him if they were indeed going that way...

Talking Dead joked and discussed it. Morissey said it was because he didn't want to take anything he was given, or something to that effect was his thoughts on it.

Instead he ate his own can of sardines.

Maybe he thought he was being poisoned in some way as he had just met the family.

I'll take your word for it . I really couldn't get a good look at what it was. Just vaguely remember beans mentioned.

Every time I see this thread in the feed, I want spaghetti.

Homemade spaghetti with extra lean ground beef, sautéed mushrooms, homemade sauce, and homemade yeast bread toasted with the right amount of garlic butter

This may be what I cook tomorrow. My yeast bread takes around 3 hours from start to finish because I don't use a bread machine.

The label from a can of spaghetti probably has more nutritional value than the contents - and doesn't taste any worse...

Nah, I didn't get that feeling at all. The scene made me think that The Governor felt not worthy of taking food that is offered to him. The show opens with him in almost catatonic state, not even making a move to protect himself as the female fire-walker walker stumbles toward him. Then later - after he's been abandoned by his Mutt and Jeff sidekicks - he's shown wandering aimlessly down a lonely street, acting as if he doesn't care whether he lives or dies. They also show him folding the photo of his late wife and daughter so he no longer shows up in it, as though he didn't deserve to be in the photo with them. So I think he took the offering of the coveted Spaghetti-O's as something he didn't really want or deserve, like he no longer wanted to exist, or be cared about by anyone.

btw, if I had written that scene where The Governor tosses the Spaghetti-Os out the window, I'd have shown them landing on top of a wayward walker's head...splat...kinda like a Chef Boyardee pigeon bomb.

    Coincidence, yes. Irony, no.

Perhaps, if Lily said to the Governor, ''Today is Tuesday and Spaghetti is what we usually have'', then it will be an irony.
