Yes, this was my thought when I rewatched the episode. The first time around, I was bouncing in my chair and yelling at Aaron to eat it. I thought for sure Rick was going to knock him out again. And then on a second watch, I focused on the look on Aaron's face during the scene, and it struck me that Aaron's gonna be Aaron despite the circumstances. It seems that's just his personality, much like when the group was first questioning him and he made a joke about the Friday night dance troupe and then was babbling about finding the camera and developing the film until Daryl told him to shut up.

 

Thinking about it today, maybe he was still doing things to gauge them by too, by defying Rick he got to see just how far Rick would go over something stupid. In the end, he just shoved the spoon in Aaron's mouth.

 

I was thinking about this scene, and since Aaron is gay and his mom wanted to make him more of a man, I'm thinking his mom didn't like how he was gay (or something along those lines. She was possibly very religious, since they are in the South.), and did stuff like to him to make him more manly or straight. Rick doing this triggered memories of this, and this is why he ws so reluctant.

 

That was great when Daryl was like "Nobody gives a shit". LOL

 

I'm with CheesyBirdMess: Just eat the stuff and tell Rick you hate it but you're taking one for the team. It's not like he was allergic to it. I felt like the writers were trying to create some tension (Is he really OK? Would he really try to poison a baby? Did he really get his clothes from Abercrombie and Fitch?) and in so doing ended up with a pretty contrived situation.

And btw, Z-Man, I am so, so sorry for what you went through as a kid. I grew up on a farm and yeah, we sent animals to the slaughterhouse but my God, my dad never made my brothers do such cruel, gut-wrenching things. I'm really sorry for what you endured.

Dudes, applesauce is the manliest of manly side dishes. My grandpa was a biker. And he told me that if you ever walk into a biker bar and they don't serve applesauce, walk out. Everyone there is probably a total wuss.
