Aren't you kinda glad Sam died?

It really was insane to allow him to accompany the group in the first place. He couldn't even come downstairs in his own house - yet they expected he could hold up while marching thru hundreds of zombies? I believe the adults really dropped the ball here in allowing him to go with the group in the first place.

If adults cannot protect children in a ZA, what is the future of mankind? Sam was alone in a family where his mother was beaten to unconsciousness and his brother beaten until he couldn't raise his arm above his shoulder. Sam tried to get a gun to protect her. How long this had been going before he told Carol about it - anybody can only guess. Nobody at ASZ noticed, or they all looked the other way.

After the traumatic (albeit deserved) death of Dad, his mother did the best she could, but Sam's traumatic PTSD was beyond what she could handle. She was alone. He was alone. No Eastman or shrinks to ASZ to figure out how a mom and a child get beyond this. Carol gave him the best advice she could, but her hard-core advice was over the head of an 11-year old.

I just don't understand the lack of sympathy for this totally traumatized young boy, who was not even at the age of puberty yet-- isolated by the problem of family violence that he did not create. So, I was happy to see him try to "man up" and stay with his mom. And, sad to see his death because being annoying should not be a death penalty offense.

I know it sounds kind of silly, but too bad no one thought to throw something over Sam's head so he couldn't see much of what was around him, like putting a hood of some sort over a horse's head when they have to be led out of a burning barn. He only needed to see his feet as he was being securely held between two other people. Might have made all the difference.

I was really hoping Jessie would make it out of there alive. I was starting to like her and I was excited for Rick to finally have a lady love again. But i guess now that opens the window for Richonne! <3

I'm glad that they took Ron with Sam and Jessie. After Sam went, and then Jessie... I can only imagine the anger and sadness and angst Ron would then develop, on top of his already horrible anger and angst... he would have just been a walking liability 24/7. It's better that he is gone.

It seemed to me that Ron didn't care about Sam, but when Jessie got swarmed, it was more fuel added to his hatred of Rick.

Poor Sam. I never want to wish death upon any kid but I did feel sorry for him. Growing up sheltered, gullible and clueless of the new world.

Not a bad idea, but... I can easily see him freaking out about half-way into their 'walk' and pulling away, getting the eye cover off..... Then causing a similar reaction from the nearby walkers..... Just the way the story was going to go....

it was frustrating, i originally enjoyed Sam, but as he burrowed deeper into PTSD and shut down, i knew hewould not be around too much longer. Originally I did enjoy his interactions with Carol, even though she scared that the piss out of him, he still seem to like her. I think he saw safety when he saw Carol. She was tough and he understood that at a gut level.

I think they pushed him too far ..... I am sure Carol's stories didn't help matters, but even without them i thought he was going to fold in that very stressful situation. And he did.....

    Everyone realizes it's a show.

The fact that many people find him "annoying" tells me that they aren't people who like or understand children. He acted like a pretty normal kid.

    Nah. I think it's his mother's fault.

She knew that he wasn't a strong boy. It was absolutely stupid of her to let him go with them when there was another option available.

Hell, if she had to she should have gone with him to the church.

Because of her failure as a mother, her son died in the exact excruciating way that he feared.

They didn't show Sophia get bitten on screen brutally though, which is what Daryl Rocks was referring to.

I didn't enjoy watching Sam and his mom get killed, it was horrifying, but this is what I like about the Walking Dead. People die in the Zombie Apocalypse, even kids, and the Walking Dead show runners are not afraid to show it.

Bravo for a horrifying yet thrilling death scene.

It was pretty good but I'd like more realistic sound effects. Like when you bite into an apple...there's a sound. I imagine when you bite into a person's head there would be some kind of audible sound.

maybe partially the mother's fault, but if the kid wasn't so rattled by Carol I think they would have made it through ok. In all reality, Sam and Ron didn't need to be a part of that group that were going to get the cars. If Ron wanted to go, that's fine - but Jessie should have been the one to take Judith and Ron back to the church with Fr Gabe.

No I don't watch them either. But based on your wimpy post my daughter tells me they might be more to your liking.

Fair enough. I'm talking about kids in general getting killed; either by walkers or other means. Didn't bother me a bit. Just a TV show.

Yeah, it doesn't bother me either. But I do think there's a sizable group of people out there it does probably bother which is why I think they avoid showing these deaths happen on screen.

There's a difference between "not bothered by" and "glad that".
