Throughout the shows, no one talked about what happens to nuclear reactors around the globe. Only the newest models have self-shutdown mechanisms. Most will go Chernobyl within weeks of loosing power, and many parts of the world will be covered with radioactive dust. The survivors in those areas will have high rates of cancer or other radiation sicknesses, which will dwindle the population even more.
