Absolutely, grew up with my old man playing Jethro Tull, Doors, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, King Crimson, Zappa, what have you. Still got his old records.

Wish I'd have appreciated it more back then.

That's all good stuff there mate.
There's a lot of great music from that period.

Think Muse got a bit too over the top for me at some point. Loved the 2nd Law and Black Holes albums though.

I like Blackmore obviously and so a bit of Rainbow, but never could stand Dio. Bit of Heep is alright too. Wishbone Ash aside I never heard of the rest.

Oh yeah let's not forget the mighty Sabbath here!

    Cool.

Ok. What I need you to do is google Focus , hocus pocus, think they did it live on The Old Grey Whistle Test.
It's a bit out there and includes yodelling but it's gotta be seen.

Haha cheers, will do. Are you implying being from Austria I wouldn't mind a bit of yodelling?

    Spooky.

Anyway, just watched it, class stuff! Right up my street, like a 70's Mr Bungle. Thanks for that.

Sounds like your old man and my Mom listened to the same stuff, I got my love of the classics from her (and my uncle). Her favorite band was Zeppelin. I wish she had saved her old vinyl. She got me a vinyl player for Christmas two years ago, and I've been collecting them. Only the classics get played on it.

On a separate note, I think one of my other top live shows is Shinedown. I love all their albums but probably my favorite track is their version of "Simple Man". The way Brent Smith lends his vocals to it is just amazing.

Why the hell did she get rid of her old records?
Definitely have to thank my late father, and in large portions my older brother for my exquisite taste in music ;)

Now that's a question I ask her all the time, along with "why the hell didn't you save your '66 'Stang for me for when I got into high school?"

I hear that. I'm thankful every day that I grew up with such good music influences. It rubbed off on my cousin too, who's the same age as I am. We used to put Kashmir on my aunt's old stereo system (my cousin had the Led Zep boxed set of CDs w/albums I - IV) and blast it loud enough so we could hear the base from the song out in the street. All his friends would walk over to listen to it. My aunt didn't like that so much :zombies_lol: ah to be 12 and careless again....
