Anyone ever woken up in the middle of the night and can't bend or straighten a joint? I woke up at 1am and my elbow was stiff and hurt a wee bit. So I yanked it straight thinking I just needed to pop it and ow, that kinda hurt. Back to bed. I woke up again at 3am and now I can't move it at all. Well I can but if I do, I'll wake the entire complex. So I'm keeping it at a 45 degree angle and doing my best not to make a fist for any reason.

Tried to go back to sleep. Ya right. So I got up, comically put in clothes.....(ever tried to put on underwear with one hand? And don't even get me started on the lengths I went to for the bra lol)....searched for my insurance card...(thank god for once I was at least 85% organized)....called to find out how much 24 hour urgent care is gonna cost me....($100.00 is my copay? REALLY????).....and now here I sit, on my bed.

Trying to figure out if im going to drive one armed.....(I could, I'm not a child, but my recent car wreck has me a bit gunshy), wake up my roommate at 4am and risk his wrath, or sit here til god knows when he wakes up.

So im a little indecisive, a little bored, a little whiney, and a little annoyed at how long it's taking me to one finger type this whole post.

Hey at least i just killed 10 minutes.

Thank you for listening to me whine oh 24-hour-forum-that-never-sleeps. Now I'm going to fix all my fat finger mistakes and hit post. And then slowly die. :p

I hope it is nothing serious and you get better quickly.
My sisters husband used to have his shoulder "pop out" while he was sleeping. After a number of painful times , he finally got surgery to prevent it from happening.

Welcome to my world.
Sounds like your joint locked up. Did you try warm water to get things circulating?
It may help.
(Took me a half an hour to put on a bra. Now I clasp it first and put it on like a shirt )

Lol thanks guys.
JEA13 that sound really painful. Just sleeping?
Sharpie61 yeah I had to hook it first and then struggle to get it on like a shirt. Biting a hole in my lip the whole time.

Just git babk from ER. No copay (YAY!) and great pain meds (YAYYYYYY!).

I tore a ligament. Apparently it happened when I popped my elbow trying to get it to stop hurting. So according to the doc if I just would have let my elbow pain run it's course I'd just have a sore elbow this morning. BUT NOOOOOO I get to be in a sling instead. Hey at least I get a 4 day weekend out of it. Lol sigh

Ouch. Torn ligaments hurt bad. Glad it's nothing more serious.
I have a sprained arm and thumb. I swear that hurts more, then the break.

Tried to take on a tree and lost. Lol

I went to break a branch on a fallen tree limb, and when it snapped, I fell backwards and tried to break my fall.
Instead, I broke my hand, bruised my tail bone, and sprained my arm and thumb. It sucks just sitting around and doing limited things.

For the hand, a splint. I have to get an x-ray again in 3 weeks to make sure the bone didn't collapse. The doctor said he rarely puts hard casts anymore, because it hinders proper healing. I never heard of that, but am thankful. I can remove the splint when I shower. :)
No drugs for me. I don't do so well with them. Advil or Tylenol only.

ugh. I'm sorry. At least it's removable like you said though. I hope all goes well and everything heals properly but in the meantime at least you have an injury buddy. Even though mine is stupid as hell. But, misery loves company so....hi! :p

So sorry to hear what happened, PepperAnn, but it's comically nice you have an injury buddy. I can join you both in typing with one hand the next time the cat falls asleep on one of my arms.

And congrats on that no copay! What a nice surprise!

absolutely!! Although they did say whatever insurance doesn't pay, I'll be billed. But it's not like I had a cat scan or MRI. Lol. Just an extremely painful X-ray. They made me straighten my arm for it. I didn't hold back on this screams while they slowly pulled my wrist to the table. Lol

God y'all are in for some whining today. I suck with pain and that sucks for you. Lol

Nah, not even close to how it is--even in pain, you are still hilarious. Go Pain Meds!

Yikes! What a horrible x-ray. Makes me want to scream just to read about it. AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Sending good thoughts your way . ...You know you're getting old when you injure yourself in your sleep ! Amethyst ( genuine ) reputedly aids in healing . Wear close to the part that needs it . Most pain I ever had was a groin pull. Yes, as bad as it sounds . Wasn't about to use mineral healing there ! Stumbled around like Quasimodo for two months . Was furniture dept. 'manager' for Wal(junk)mart at the time ....and they gave me NO help except for a 90 lb. grandma. I tried moving a 250 lb. desk in a box by myself, and could actually hear the tear when it happened . Store never gave assistance ...just laughed behind my back. Should've sued them . Get better quick !

I kept apologizing to the tech and laughing after every scream cuz I felt so stupid. lol then I felt more stupid for trading off laughing and screaming each time. I felt like I needed a straight jacket. Ugh

I forgot I got a cd too. Isn't it weird how technology makes us all morbid with curiosity? Oh, that's what my bones look like, I think I'll frame it. lol

Ugh, sorry to hear about how you were treated after your injury. That's awful. And yeah, hearing the injury is the worst. It's almost actually worse. Almost. I cringe when I step on a crunchy bug so I don't do well with human crunching and tearing sounds either. *shudder*

Off to the bank and then the jewelry store! :p

Thanks SF. :)

I am actually a lot better today. I am stiff still but if I slowly straighten or bend my arm now, the massive pain is only at the very end of the straighen or bend, so....progress.

Sharpie61 hope each day is a little better for you too. :D

Hope you feel better soon. I had a broken little finger back in May. Required seeing a hand specialist. They made a special splint for it and said it will heal great. Well it's Sept and the joint is still swollen and my finger won't go straight ugh. I can still do everything, make a fist, lift weights and so on. But damn wish it would be straight lol

I guess I'm doing ok. I have some swelling in my arm today. Not sure what that's about. I will probably go see the doctor later.
I just wish I could sleep at night. I can't get comfortable at all. I noticed that it's making me cranky. So my family better watch out.

Thanks! I'll be fine.
and BTW I did the same thing to my left pointer finger when I was a kid. Got one of those finger splints and everything. And to this day I cannot bend that finger. Well only a little bit. I can imitate a hook. :p So don't expect much. Sorry... :(

Oh no, that REALLY sucks. I was wondering about that for you. Luckily for me, I sleep on my sides and with each side, my left arm is almost always at the 90 degree angle it's at now, so I thankfully had no problem last night. (I said 45 degree angle yesterday, that was a mistake. lol)

What kind of sleeper are you? Back? Stomach? Sides?
