Cool, thanks for posting that image. I've watched that scene several times, and it does look like a contrail that's not static, but definitely getting longer.

 

Yeah, its a sky stain.

 

Haha, a growing "sky stain"... the contrail is not static, if you watch closely, it gets longer.

 

That's what happens with sky background stains when using a retrophoto lens. They grow and shrink with time. Back and forth to and fro.
