Yeah, that's the tough thing about having hills when all the ground cover goes, mudslides. That seems like more of a So. Calif problem than a No. Calif one.

 

It was for our mother, but I lost my best friend to the Sacramento River during a community picnic, back when it was still running free and we were five, so I grew up feeling pragmatically accepting of this as just a sad, sad thing that happens every once in a blue moon.

For me, it wasn't more sad or less sad whether the body was found. The loss of life felt the same to me. I wish it could be that same natural acceptance for everyone, because I know some of the Paradise people will never be found.

 

I believe the town is named pleasure.

Ya just read that insurance companies actually keep private fire companies on retainer. Use them to protect high value policy holders. Makes sense. Rather than pay out multimillion dollar claims. Of course people started complaining that the rich should not be able to get special treatment. Kim and Ye should have let their home burn down because not EVERYBODY could afford a private fire team. None of their business. They didn’t take public resources to benefit themselves. They hired a private company for their services.
