In a ZA makes the most sense to hang onto any gun where ammo is in plentiful supply among the general (pre ZA) population. Easier to scavenge

 

it does look like it belongs in a John Wayne movie. it would make a lot more sense to have a modern semi auto with a larger magazine capacity and a more common caliber (like another poster said this thing looks like it fires a large pistol cartridge, which would be hard to find compared to 9mm or M4 ammo.

 

Far from a toy. That's a Marlin 30-30 (I think it's a marlin. It could be a Rossi). Deer gun! Serious business and will give you bruises on your shoulder after about 10 shots.
