This is one of my favorite scenes from S1! Carol is awesome, she doesn't want anyone to put that pickaxe through Ed's head but herself. It was a feeling of extreme release, Daryl seemed a little put off, but for Carol, it was something she wanted to do when Ed was alive. Hopefully he was put in the burn pile.:hatchet: Yes, I hated Ed.

If only he was alive while she did it.

I think it caught Daryl by surprise, to see all this grief and rage coming out of a woman. I don't even think Daryl thought about what anybody else was going through before that moment. For him it was about staying alive and finding the next meal. Looking back now, it can be viewed as the first little sign of connecting to Carol knowing what we know now about his father and Merle. That's a good one about the burn pile. After what Carol did to the body, I don't think anybody would want to bury what was left.

It was a turning point for Carol's character development. Before that I could not stand her.

Yeah, I liked Carol from that moment on, her characters arc has been the most interesting to me than just about anyone's on the show, I never thought she'd still be on TWD going into season 5 and I'm glad she made it.
Melissa McBride does a great job portraying her

YES! Next to Rick, she is the strongest character to have come this far with everything that she has lost, only to become someone she never dreamed possible that can still kick ass, but is rational in thoughts and actions...Cheers to Melissa McBride!!

I never like Ed. I can understand, Carol taking the ax to his head and slashed his brains out. being abused by her husband for years.

Ed was a complete dick. Never was I more happy to see Shane give him the beat down he deserved. One of the best scenes from season 1. That and Carol putting an ax through his head.

Ed was just a misunderstood fellow who didn't deserve to be axed in the head by the wife he frequently abused. You people are just meanies.

You're goddamn right. I mean, the poor guy's wife just wouldn't shut up and do laundry, so he called her out on it. Big deal. He doesn't deserve this amount of ridicule from you people...

Carol should of suffocated him with laundry, and had an evil laugh while doing it.
