I was just given a excellent Xmas gift.
Ancestry notified me that I had a new match in my DNA list.
This woman is related on my Moms side (her grandpa was my moms cousin). I messaged her and let her know that if she had any questions, to just ask.
She just shared with me some photos as she doesn’t know who most of them were. We were just able to confirm that one of the photos is of my great grandfather. And another is of his Dad, who came to the country in 1874.
To me, these are priceless. And I now have another family member I can chat with.

I’m so excited! I managed to snag a vintage Gladys Bagley-A Work In Progress, “bejeweled” Christmas sweater! My daughter says I now have my first ugly Christmas sweater, lol, but I was mesmerized by the detailed work, all hand sewn. I absolutely plan to wear it Christmas Day at the in-laws although I’m gonna cut out the shoulder pads.

I was going to post a pic but no matter what I do, either on my laptop or ipad, it won't upload here.

Did you try uploading it to an image hosting website and then copying the link?

No, I didn’t. Thanks for the tip. Now if I can borrow my daughter later to help me with it, I’ll give it a try.

Ugh! I wish there was an easier way for me to help walk you through this. The problem with a lot of image hosting sites now, is they all charge a fee. The ones that were really easy to use AND free, are no longer around.

However, I'm going to attempt to walk you through what I do and maybe it will make sense....

    1. Go to this site.... https://imgbb.com/
    2. Click on the blue "Start uploading" button
    3. Then your windows explorer window will pop up and you just gotta find the pic that you want to use and select it by clicking the open button (Keep in mind that it has to be a .jpeg or a .png or a .gif for example)
    4. Then press the green "Upload" button
    5. After your image is uploaded to their site, look for a menu bar below the uploaded image shown on the web page called "Embedded Codes"
    6. Select the option for BBCode Full Link
    7. Highlight the link on that website and copy it.
    8. Then when in this forum, click on the "image icon" in your reply menu and paste it into the field.
    9. Get rid of the (img) and the (url) crap listed with the link... you only need the raw link file showing....

Example: you want it to look like this https://i.ibb.co/4PkLDxX/DSCF1341.jpg

    10. Hit the insert button and it should work.

Show this to your daughter and she'll probably be able to make more sense of what I'm saying here, if you're more of a "need visual examples" type of person.

None the less, "the sweater" has found it's forever home where it will be loved and cherished. Brought out yearly and worn proudly....somewhere...lol

My girls also gave me the gift of photos. They went through all my photo books and picked out certain ones of themselves and did a then and now photo album. It made me cry. A sample-
