I agree with your viewpoint very much. It's extremely frustrating when people don't have valid reasons for wanting to not be around other people - especially when John took care of her very well and she said she loved him in the Scrabble tiles before she left. THEN WHY LEAVE? it's like people want to be miserable.

Also, interestingly enough I heard someone on the radio this morning ask another person to spell bologna and the answer they gave was that it depends on how it's used. with that being said, I'm thinking bologna refers mainly to the meat while baloney is how you were trying to use it. Perhaps?
