It is a bad thing that this is in North Korea. The virus will become embedded in their environment and never allow it to be eradicated due to their poor medical system.
This is one of the greatest fears in Africa with the Ebola virus. Becoming embedded in the enviroment.

Another good book is "The Hot Zone". It gives insight into how scientists approach deadly diseases.
Ebola came to America in 1989 at a facility that sold monkeys for research. Fortunately this variety was assymtomatic in humans. Most people don't know this.

You'll honestly love it, it was fascinating. At the time it was written (and maybe still), they really had no idea what it was that made that flu strain so deadly. Also, despite being named the Spanish Flu, and likely having started in China, it likely mutated to being deadly in Kansas.

I also endorse The Hot Zone - great book @surviving .

I've read somewhere that the Spanish Flu elicited an over reaction in the body's immune system which in turn caused the body's immune system to attack itself. This is why young people were at more danger than older people. Most young people have stronger immune systems.
Another interesting fact is the Swine Flu of 2009 was a variant of the Spanish Flu. It also went global and was consider a pandemic.

I also recommend The Hot Zone. Book scared the bejeezus out of me. I think I’ll read the one on the Spanish Flu and then not go out of the house till May, lol.

I've loved the story of the Spanish Flu. I've watched and rewatched every documentary. As history, it is so gripping.

Honestly, I've been feeling pangs of something related to guilt, as if Corvid-19 were a punishment for being transfixed by pandemics of the past. I know they tell the old stories because they know something new comes around once in a while and people should be aware of the perils. They couldn't warn me my modern self would still have that atavistic reaction of seeing punishment.

? China bumped up the number of affected people by 50% in a day! Either they haven't been truthful previously or the virus has mutated severely. I'm going with the former.

Thanks for posting these updates, btw!

I think they should call it the "Wuhan Cough" or something like that. It wouldn't add to discrimination and would give it some local color. Corvid-19 is just so blah.

Hey @PepperAnn, I saw today that there is a Corvid-19 diagnosis in San Antonio. There was a case in SF back at the beginning and I'm still perking along, so I trust you are still just fine as well. Still, I'm glad you posted today. lol

One of my vendors manufactures window shutters out of China just outside of the Wuhan Provence, and they shut down the factory a couple of days ago. Now they are scrambling to continue operations in one of their other plants in SE Asia.

I'm surprised it took them this long.
