Looks sweet, can anyone figure out what kind of weapon/mechanism that is he is resting his hand on/grabbing?

 

At first I thought it was a cane, but then I noticed the string coming out of it. Some kind of release mechanism? Shit, I don't know I'm not good at the guessing games.

And also, I'll be the first to go "ZOMG ITS A LEFT HAND RICK HAZ LIVE!!!1!11!!"

 

Another new character? Maybe one of the people with the mystery girl? Or someone else entirely?

 

It does look like its a cane or something? Maybe there was a huge time jump ?and that is an Elderly Rick showing he still has it ! Idk the wait is killing me to find out what they are Doing after All out war!!!

Maybe it is Ezekiels walking cane? He could have some trick in it already and we just don't know it yet... Flail, Garrote, Maybe a lever dropping a trap door? This is actually the most interesting cover I have seen in a while. It keeps me guessing as to just what is up far more than just some stranger on the cover.

 

The first thing I thought was: this is probably an old man holding a cane. A new character.

It can even be Lucille. I think Ezekiel's cane is a little bit thinner.

 

It's the old guy from Jurassic park. He's going to try to start a theme park with the two zombified dinosaurs Eugene was talking about in 415. Spared no expense.

I think the phrase "Even now, they still find new ways to dispose of the dead."is a pretty good indication that the comics will indeed go forward in time.

 

It could also be simply one of those things like "After all this time, Rick finally decided to take a chance and have a relationship... Or two." Saying "All this time" is subjective, and open to a wide interpretation. I mean, they have mostly just used simple weapons (Lumping guns into this category for simplicity, since they are as abundant as any other weapon) on the undead. After two years, something new is bound to pop up; Tazer to the temple, Steel cable snap-trap (Like in the intro to Ghost Ship) Ewok log swing, or even a flamethrower would be new and inventive though. Maybe just a pit trap with long rebar spikes?

 

Yes! ^This is what I want to see. Ewok inspired booby traps and them living in tree forts.

Makes sense. The Saviors already shoot like stormtroopers.

 

When Negan is on the battlefield, EVERYONE shoots like a stormtrooper. I'm loosing faith in Andrea's sniper abilities, which is odd since she has shown the ability to shoot the finger off of a cannibal at range. I bet she could shoot a quarter out of a pocket containing fifteen cents, but can't hit the largest combattant standing at the center of a battlefield? Shameful. Good thing Rick has already solved this problem in the long-term...

Now to just make it through the short-term.................

 

I think with "A New Beginning" starting with issue 127 and then tag lines of "After all this time, she should be more prepared" on 128 and "Even now, they still find new ways to dispose of the dead" on 129, along with Charlie Adlard's recent comments a time jump is entirely possible. Of course Kirkman is famous for trolling his own fans so who knows.

As far as what that item is the person on 129 is holding I too thought it was just a cane at first until I noticed the wire sticking out of it. To me it looks like machined metal pointing to something mechanical. Maybe a gear shift from a car that has been re-purposed.
