Merry Christmas, Carylers!

 

A new trailer for S8B was released, and they're teasing us with Caryl yet again.

<sigh> Another season of TWD is over and still Caryl isn't official.

 

Like I wrote in my last post, another season of TWD is over, and Caryl still isn't official.

I hoped Season 8 would finally be the season. I hoped after Daryl escaped from Sanctuary, Carol dealing with her demons, and the war against Negan on the horizon (season 7), they both would finally admit their bond is stronger than friendship.

If that scenario hadn't of happened, I'd have loved a sequel to the season 5 episode "Consumed", in which Daryl and Carol followed the Grady Memorial car back into Atlanta in an attempt to find and rescue Beth.

How about after the season 8 episode "The Big Scary U", Daryl leaves Rick and goes to the Kingdom to see if Carol is all right. Daryl goes on to take Morgan's role in the episodes "The King, The Widow, and Rick", "How It's Gotta Be", and "Honor"?

With Daryl at the Kingdom, Morgan goes with Rick to the junkyard to see Jadis and the Scavengers ("The King, The Widow, and Rick"). This way, Morgan establishes a connection with Jadis, and its easier for when he sends her away and moves into the junkyard at the conclusion to the season 8 finale "Wrath".

 

Raps. I’m a caryler. You know that. But can’t you see how great the dynamic is with the two of them the way they are? Maybe you should appreciate what they have instead of hating on what isn’t going to happen and missing the present? I’ve embraced that. And it’s wonderful. #SeeTheGood

 

I'll take whatever Caryl moments I can get, Pep, but I'd love to see Daryl and Carol's relationship go beyond friendship. It really looked like that was going to happen in season 5. Remember when Daryl took that psychology book from the battered women's shelter he and Carol spent the night in? I also think Daryl has an idea as to what really happened with Lizzie and Mika, but he's giving Carol her space.

That said, I'd also would've loved to have seen Daryl and Carol fighting side-by-side during the war against Negan. They were together for the final battle in the season finale, so I'll take that.

As a fan of both characters, I'm tired of Gimple giving us Emo Daryl, and I'm also tired of Gimple recycling "The Grove" for Carol. I hope new showrunner Angela Kang, can turn things around.
