I was going to vote option#4, but then I saw it also blamed Daryl.

 

Let's point the blame at who's really responsible...Morgan.

• Morgan refused to put down his turned wife Jenny; she later killed their son Duane
• Morgan defeated the Alpha Wolf in battle twice, but refused to kill him both times
• Morgan hid the Alpha Wolf in his basement; the Alpha Wolf kidnapped Olivia in a escape attempt
• Morgan strengthened Carol's guilt over killing to survive and protect the group
• Morgan got Rick and Carl to thinking about a peaceful co-existence with the Saviors
• Morgan preached nonviolence, but he took revenge when it was convenient for himself
• Morgan is mentally unstable, but his words carried weight amongst the group

 

That makes him responsible for the ZA?

 

Yep. Morgan is nothing but trouble. Should've stayed in King County, spray painting graffiti and shouting "You know what it is!"

 

I'd believe it. Carol should burn him at the stake.

 

Morgan should've died in the war. At least his death would convince Rick to spare Negan to make him see that they could rebuild society peacefully.

Instead, the group's one casualty was also the one nobody expected...Carl.

 

Those are some good points about Morgan, but don't forget that the ZA happened in some places where Morgan never went, like Noah's hometown. Daryl was there. In fact, everywhere the ZA was happening, Daryl was there.
And don't forget that his original intention was to rob the group in the quarry with Merle. That resulted in Ed Peletier getting killed. He could have stopped it. Anyone who could control Carol could stop a ZA, and Daryl got him killed. Dumb ass.
See, it was Daryl who caused it. And he tried to cover his tracks by claiming to see a chupacabra .
And don't get me started on how he killed Mika.

 

It was Merle's intention to rob the group, not Daryl's.

That Morgan was up to something. Of all the houses in King County, he and Duane hole up in the one across the street from the Grimes'? Pretty suspicious if you ask me.
