question about graphic novels, forums TWD general

I haven't missed an episode and think I want to read the graphic novels (are those the same as the comics?) I just want more insight into what we are watching without reading ahead and spoiling it. When the series first started I was in a Barnes&Noble and picked up a large comic book TWD. Of course, I turned to a page and saw where Lori died. I knew this for about a year before that episode aired and couldn't tell my husband. So, my question is: what are my choices for the comics/graphic novels? Are there actual books too? I really want the comic with pics so I can see what their vision is of what the characters look like. What is the best forum to read where people who know what the h**l is going on without spoilers? I read TWD forums and the questions people ask make me wonder if we are even watching the same series? Someone watched the episode last night and didn't even realize it was a flashback to Bob when they first found him. They actually thought somehow Glenn & Darryl were back together. Help, please! thanks.

 

Another option is thewalkingdead08's youtube channel. He has all of the issues each on videos that you can just watched. Picture quality is really good and it doesn't skip too slow in between pages but fast enough where you can read it or pause.

Thanks, legendx66 and Kennyisalive94. I have heard the comic is very different from the show, but I love to read and thought I'd get some insight into the show reading them. Where is the best place to buy, amazon? Is the trade book the same as the hardcover that has 6 issues or it that another form of comic? I will also check out thewalkingdead08's youtube. No, not Negan. That would be horribly anti-climatic. His epic deaths comes in 126, at the hands of mystery guest number 1 and Lucille. I can imagine his betrayal and horrible confusion as he's beaten to death by his own "lover"
