When you open fire on people you take that chance that those bulletts could hit someone. I know that's how the scene was suppose to be written(just having fun). But from the prison groups point of view they were trying to kill them. How would the Governor know if the zombies he released wouldn't have bite everyone? He can control those too? Once he saw there was not much retaliation then he was acting like in the photo you posted.

The Ma Deuce is an anti-material area weapon, the round has only "recently" been adopted into a sniper rifle configuration. So in this case the .50 caliber is mounted on a vehicle with the gunner standing and exposed. While the shooter makes lots of noise and sprays rounds everywhere, one shot from Rick's scoped hunting rifle will end that threat.

Spikes (large nails) through 2x4's on the main roads in. Doesnt matter if a walker steps on it. Easy to to make and put in the roads. Once the vehicle's tire is punctured: they are effectively stuck without being able to re-supply. War is a battle of logistics.

My point would be that someone on a 50 could be shooting at a guard on the guard tower *through* the wooden building on top, as well as changing other people's cover to concealment, thus acting as great suppressive fire. Plus, if the guy on the .50 is out about 300-400 yards, there aren't that many people who are going to hit him reliably even with a scoped 30-06. LOL, take Rick for example, when he was on guard duty he's *standing up*, and didn't even use a sling. Do you really think he's going to hit the guy on the 50? I don't.

Are you kidding me? What about sniper Tyreese? OK, we have seen him miss with a scoped and suppressed bolt action rifle from 30 yards. What about ole reliable Rick? OK, we have seen him miss Martinez 60x with a scoped AR from 100yds. What about sharpshooter Carol? OK, we have seen her hit nada at the guard tower infiltrator with a scoped AR. What about deadeye Carl? OK we have seen him miss with his pistol at the guard tower all day. What about surefire Daryl? AHA, got you there! So it is a Mexican stand-off at 400 yds - your guy with a vehicle mounted .50 cal and Daryl MF Dixon with a child's crossbow...... hrmpf, OK you win this one!

I said this before and I'll say it again... Rick and Co's best defense would have been a strong offense. They should have done a quick recon of Woodbury and assaulted. Killing the Gov'nah and pulling out.

Sure, it may have made the Woodburians mad, but hell, there was already gonna be a war.

Oh, and lets not forget the psychological aspect that the M2 brings. Hearing it sending lead down range, and most people realizing that they are the ones down range will make most people find a hole and stay in it.

LOL, don't get me wrong, I wouldn't want to be a woodburian charging the guy in Rick's group lobbing grenades, either, but then hopefully someone would kill him before I got within 50 yds of him.

That .50 cal would not last in the hands of the gov. They dont have the proper tools to maintain the proper headspace and timing nor do they know how to shoot in bursts instead of rapid fire. The barrel life will soon take its toll as it would heat up and melt. The .50 cal is not the same kind of weapon as an M16 or AR15. you can't just fire and forget, it takes regular preventive maintenance.

They just need a person that can place one well aimed shot after the 50 cal jams from improper maintenance.

Outnumbered maybe, out gunned hell no. Rick's soldiers are definitely more skilled than anyone that the Gov has with the exception of Martinez.

I didn't say they were out skilled. I said out gunned. Rick's group doesn't have near the weapons Woodbury has.

What about all the guns that they got from Morgan? Morgan has an arsenal in that apartment.

Yeah, but the Gov has been ambushing soldiers and raiding armories. Rick's group has just that one stash.
