Development is moving steadily forward for Escape From Tarkov. Battlestate Games officially announced today the launch date for the first Closed Alpha test for the upcoming military-themed first-person shooter/MMO Escape From Tarkov. The upcoming game will be going into its first Closed Alpha on August 4. In addition, Battlestate announced sign-ups for players for the Closed Alpha test, which you can sign up for at this link.

The Closed Alpha will give a select group of players a hands-on taste of the game's battles. In addition, an extended gameplay video was release featuring no less than 28 minutes of new footage. That video is available HERE. The gameplay in the new video features Alpha game footage.

Escape From Tarkov is a story-driven MMO that also features FPS and RPG elements. It's all set in the Russian city of Tarkov, which has been sealed by roadblocks and has descended into chaos due to local warfare between private military companies. The game uses the Hazardous Environment Combat Simulator for a number of custom system modules to create an immersive gameplay experience.

It should be interesting to see how the alpha stage comes off. Escape From Tarkov will be available on Windows PC first later on. It's unknown if console versions are in the works. Battlestate Games has not yet confirmed or announced console ports of the MMO yet. For now, it appears the studio is mainly focusing on the PC release. An official launch date for Escape From Tarkov will be revealed later.
