The trio (now duo) that got Daryl are looking for 'Patty' (ie this truck) to drive away with.

The company name was Patrick Fuel Supply or something like that, so the license plate presumably was based on the name, and it was the 2nd one licensed in their fleet. As mentioned above, this was the 'Patty' that the trio was looking for earlier in the episode.

I think it's funny.. According to the Urban dictionary:

paddywagon
A police wagon used for hauling criminals. Often due to the stereotype of Irish (Paddys= Pattys= Patricks) being arrested for public intoxication. Also due to the high number of Irish men employed as police officers during the late 19th and early 20th centuries

That fuel delivery company's name is 'PattRick'. I suppose it is owned by a couple, Patt and Rick. And Rick the husband named the trucks after his wife Patt.

Fuel trucks are used to 'ship' fuel. They're telling us what happens after Jessie buys the farm.

I knew Berry was going to catch flak for that, but I also see the point that it is a "Patty" vehicle and it was being used by criminals that stole Daryl's most precious items.

Berry, the term is still in use, but people are glad it is dying out because of it's prejudicial origins.

In modern slang, "paddy wagon" means a police car."Paddy" originated in the late 1700s as a shortened form of "Patrick," and then later a pejorative term for any Irishman. "Wagon" naturally refers to a vehicle. "Paddy wagon" either stemmed from the large number of Irish police officers or the perception that rowdy, drunken Irishmen constantly ended up in the back of police cars.

I thought Patty was an actual person they were looking for, but the trucks ended up being named for her as well.

I also thot that! Now this is just confusing. I think the plate is different than Patty the person.
Cause why would they take Daryl? To use as leverage for the return of Patty?
If Patty is a truck and can not make choices, cause she is a truck.
My vote; agree, two different things. Patty the human. Patty the truck.

No but being from Virginia I do believe we have a problem...
And at first I wasn't going to say anything, mostly because I thought maybe I didn't see it right and I wasn't in the mood to re-watch that part... But since it has been brought up again :d

So...
The letters on the plate indicate it is of type Truck Private Permanent
They do allow these types of plates to be personalized.
However Virginia only allows 7.5 character/number combinations (the .5 refers to a space, meaning at the most you can use 7 characters or numbers in any order PLUS a space but no more and nothing else).
And PATTY002 = 8 characters or numbers

Matter of fact when attempting to 'purchase' said plate here:
https://www.dmv.virginia.gov/dmvnet/plate_purchase/select_plate.asp?PLT=TKPPM
The following message is displayed:
Plate number exceeded maximum allowable characters for plate type entered,
The form on that page does have 8 blanks for character entry, but for it to be valid one of those characters HAS to be a SPACE!

Therefore the plate PATTY002 is a FAKE!!!

PATTY002 is a FAKE license plate!!!

FAKER'ana Three dollar BILL Fake!

FFFFfffffaIK!

Tell you something else...
I bet it's worth money, that PATTY002 Virginia Permanent Private Truck plate.

Patty was the truck that Daryl found, which they are now travelling in.

A fake license plate? You should call 555-1234 to complain.

It wouldn't have killed them to make it say "Patty 02" instead. What signficance does "002" have, if any? The only thing that comes to mind to me are James Bond movies, and according to Wiki,

002
Bill Fairbanks
Assassinated by Francisco Scaramanga, a.k.a. The Man with the Golden Gun, in Beirut, Lebanon, in 1969 (film version: The Man with the Golden Gun).

So maybe that's it.

Exactly.
I understand that most likely for the purpose of a movie they are not going to actually "register" a vehicle with a DMV, mostly because from a practical (and possibly legal) standpoint it makes no sense.

But it's a mistake the producers made, that license plate is incorrect.
Legally in Virginia an 8-letter/number license plate can not exist (unless one of the characters is a space).

Maybe PATTY02 is a real license plate in Virginia. 867-5309.
